A GEORGE III MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCKThe 12 inch arched brass dial with subsidiary dial and date aperture, signed 'John Chater Olney No 64', with two weights, a pendulum, winder and a case key, movement and case associated, overall height 214cm highCondition report: The case is basically original and has been repolished at some point. However, please not the following obvious issues: The hood with some cracking and replacement to the blind fret spandrels of the hood, some side splitting and movement to the sides Traces of old worm holes to the hood and trunk. Worm damage to the lower moulding of the hood which is now split apart on the left side and requires restoration. Later screws to secure glass door hinges. Brass mounts to the bases of the fluted side columns are loose.Some replacement and repair to detail moulding on the trunk, below hood. Slight warp to the door towards the bottom. An areas of filler Just below the key escutcheon, possibly from a previous catch for the door. Gauge to left hand side on canted flutes, approx 5 inches below lock. Both sides with split panels to the side of the plinth, left side with some repair and infill. Bracket feet are replaced. Marks, knocks, scratches and scuffs commensurate with age and use. The movement: The movement may not be original to case. The dial is dirty. Hands are not original. Movement appears complete, but is dirty and requires a full service. Two lead weights, winding key and a pendulum. Please see extra images on www.bellmans.cou.uk
