The best edition, very considerably expanded and emended from the first edition of 1821. The plates in volume one are dated 1854 and published by John Murray (as in the Blackmer copy), those in volume two are dated 1841 and published by Rodwell. It would seem likely that leftover sheets of the (1841) work, together with the original title page, were simply re issued in 1854 with the new plates. (2)

Luke Wise is recorded in Baillie G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in Reading 1686-1710 however Loomes records him as moving from London to Reading by 1691 and dying in 1735.
