I.P. Asby - an early 18th century longcase clock, the square brass 10" dial having silvered chapter ring, single blue steel hand, rolling date dial, thirty hour weight driven movement striking on a bell, the case with all-over blind carving to a boxbase, h.197cm (with alterations). Strike working and with excellent sound.Movement and dial appear to be original, with no apparent alterations.Seatboard and cheeks are period and probably original.Case later carved.With later baton across back.Small loss to matted centre at 2 o’clock, possibly in the making.Later pegged to hold door.Timber with light varnish.Case and dial possibly associated.
A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Joseph Smith, Chester, circa 1780, swan neck pediment with carved flower head capitals, gilt painted scroll decorated eglomise glass panels, Corinthian capped fluted columns, well figured trunk door flanked by inset fluted pilasters, pierced and blind fret borders, 13-1/4-inch arch brass dial, dial centre engraved with a flower basket and scroll decorated, seconds dial, date aperture, arch with a moon disc and signed above on an arched plaque, four pillar movement with an anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 247cm high see illustration 20.12.18, The hood with some pieces of wood missing in parts and chips to the edges, front glass panels with blue paint to the reverse side is missing in parts, case with dents and scratches in parts, trunk door is bowed to the topside and slightly stained in parts, later skirting and later feet, skirting with chips, metal mounts are discoloured, case side cheeks have been cut down, later seatboard, later hands, dial and movement are dirty.

§ Robert Tavener (British, 1920-2004) The Blind Beggar signed 'Robert Tavener' (lower left) ink and watercolour 27.50 x 9.50cm (11 x 4in) Small loss of paint around the edges - particularly towards the right side. There is also a small area (approx.. a square inch) where the paint has been scraped away above the signature. Possible damage and condition issues, which has resulted in the signature being drastically retouched.

A George III oak and walnut crossbanded longcase clock by Fisher of Preston, with thirty hour movement, the case with moulded cornice and blind fretwork frieze, with long trunk door and conforming base. Height 201 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The lock appears to be ticking away and striking when advanced. We have the weight and pendulum. Both doors close as they should and are no warped. The moulding beneath the clock hood is missing on the left hand side. The bottom ogee mould beneath the convex mould is also missing on both sides. The base is in generally good order. The lower plinth, whilst very old is likely to be a later replacement.
