Early 19th century Welsh oak two stage blind panelled press cupboard, the moulded cornice above two blind panel fielded doors, the interior now missing its shelves, the base with an arrangement on five drawers, standing on a projecting base and bracket feet. 138x180x48 cm approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT) Replacement handles overall, missing its shelves to the interior, retains a good colour overall, usual splits, marks, scratches and ware commensurate with age, evidence of old woodworm in places.

19th century oak two stage House keepers cupboard, the moulded cornice above four blind panel fielded doors with turned handles, the interior revealing fitted shaped shelves above a projecting base with an arrangement of eight drawers standing on baluster turned feet. 181x220x54 cm approx. Appearing in reasonably good condition for age, the usual ware marks and scratches overall; all knob handles appearing good and present with original brass locks, two keys present, noticeable damage to one drawer bottom right hand corner. Retains a reasonably good colour overall, some ware to the feet area as expected.

(B.P. 21% + VAT) Many losses, including mouldings and veneer an inlay, some raised veneer in places, scratches and marks overall, splits to each side-panel, very well used condition overall.

19th century Amboyna inlaid and ebonised two door blind panelled press cupboard (top only) the moulded stepped cornice above two doors, the interior revealing eight pull-out drawers, standing on a projecting base. 148x113x62cm approx Noticeable loss to the ebonised moulding on one of the door frames, some other losses in places, appearing in good colour overall, minor scratches ware and tare commensurate with age.

Victorian mahogany knee hole desk, the leather inset and moulded top above two drawers with brass handles, two blind panel doors revealing three drawers with turned handles. The reverse with two blind panelled cupboard doors and compartments, standing on a projected platform base. 123x77x69cm approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT) The leather top appears complete, but is very faded with stains and marks. The mahogany is faded in places and there are some noticeable splits. All handles present, general wear and tare commensurate with age.

Victorian carved oak hall chair, the carved back with flower head and lion mask head decoration above a blind fielded panel with tapering carved back decoration of an urn with flowers and foliage, circular moulded seat on curved front paw feet. Provenance - believed to have come from Taymouth Castle in Scotland. 98cm approx high. (B.P. 21% + VAT) A chip to the nose of the lion, some fading in places especially to the seat, structurally sound, some shrinkage splits to the base/feet area.

1994 BMW 850Ci Transmission: automaticMileage:106254Registered new on the 12th January 1994 at McMillan BMW of Newmarket Auckland, New Zealand. This wonderful example is finished in Sterling Silver over special order dark Oxblood interior and is highly specified with heated seats, rear blind, sports mode, and adaptable suspension. The car has predominantly spent its entire life in Auckland, aside from a short stint in 2006 where the vehicle resided in Christchurch and was maintained by the main dealer whilst there. Now residing in the UK, the BMW has been treated to much maintenance work by the current vendor which includes the replacement of all spark plugs, new Continental Max Contact 6 tyres, Control panel LCD screen replacement, new period correct stereo fitted with Bluetooth, full leather treatment and detailed preparation. The 11 inch square brass dial with winged cherubs head spandrels and foliate engraving framing the wide silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with half-quarter marks around the matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and decorated date aperture, signed 'Iohn Knibb, Oxon' along the lower edge. The movement united by five knopped and ringed pillars latched to the frontplate, the going train with anchor escapement, striking via an inside countwheel. The prospectus states that 15 copies were issued in the special binding but this is the only copy we have been able to trace.

Britain.- Pyne (William Henry) The History of the Royal Residences, 3 vol., first edition, 100 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates, one gathering in vol.2 lightly foxed, otherwise an excellent clean and bright copy, bookplate of Doris L. Benz, handsome red straight-grain morocco, stamped in gilt and blind, g.e., [Abbey, Scenery 396], 4to, 1819.⁂ William Henry Pyne (1770-1843) was an artist and printmaker who commissioned the artists and engravers of these plates to show an exact record of the interiors of royal residences. The illustrations have been consulted by art historians, curators and archivists at the Royal Collection to research interior schemes and decorative fashions, even down to such details as the arrangements of hanging pictures.

Rawlins, for the Author, 1682.⁂ The birth of the microscopic anatomy of plants. Grew, and his contemporary Malpighi in Italy, were the founders of the science of plant anatomy. Entries include an early biography and portrait of the anatomist Vesalius; also Erasmus (a lengthy entry); the printer Froben and Luther. The Hystory...of the warre, whiche was betwene the Peloponesians and the Athenyans, first English edition, translated by Thomas Nicolls, printed in black letter, fine woodcut title (repaired at head and foot), without the final errata leaf (as often), closed tear to inner margin of C2, affecting a few words but with no loss, some water-staining and occasional soiling but generally a crisp and well-margined copy, old blind-stamped calf, rebacked preserving old label, rubbed and scuffed, [STC 24056], folio, Imprinted [by William Tylle], 1550.⁂ A very good copy of one of the earliest translations of Greek literature. Thucydides recounts the 5th-century B.C. war between Athens and Sparta and analyses the political and moral policies that fueled the combat.Provenance: Henrie Bushell (early ink inscription on final leaf of text); Col. F. Isaac (ink inscription in Stephen Gaselee's hand, from whom acquired in 1935)

Chronicle.- Lanquet (Thomas) Coopers chronicle contenynge the vvhole discourse of the histories as well of thys realme, as all other countreis, black letter, title and woodcut ornament within double filet border, woodcut decorative initials, occasional contemporary ink marginalia, T1 repaired tear within text, without loss, worm trace (diminishing in size as proceeds) to lower inner gutters of sigs. KK-MM, stained, some spotting, lightly browned, lacking pastedowns, new free endpapers, contemporary blind-stamped calf, covers with arabesque centre-pieces and outer triple filet borders, spine in compartments, corners worn, spine ends neatly repaired, new headcaps, some staining, creased and rubbed, [STC 15220], small 4to, no printer, 1st August, 1565.⁂ Lanquet's work was unfinished on his death and was later completed and extended to encompass Elizabeth's reign by Thomas Cooper of Magdalen College School, Oxford.Provenance: 'Thomae Plumpton, i Augusti, 1571'; 'Jacobi Metze' (ink signatures to title).

Includes an account of Tycho Brahe's duel following a mathematical dispute, in which he famously lost his nose, and the story of his pet elk, who died after drinking beer at a banquet and falling down stairs.Provenance: Earls of Macclesfield (North Library engraved armorial bookplate) and small armorial blind-stamps.

Brounker Watts, London an ebonised bracket clock: the eight-day duration, five-pillar, double-fusee movement having a verge escapement and striking the hours on a bell with repeat of the last quarter on two further bells, the fully engraved backplate signed Brounker Watts, London, the seven-inch brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic five-minute numerals to the outer aspect and fleur-de-lys half-hour markings, the matted dial centre having engraved decoration, a false-pendulum aperture and date aperture, with wheat-ear border engraving, the top and bottom of the dial with scroll engraving and signed Brounker Watts, London, the ebonised bell-top case with blind fret to the front, glazed panels to the sides, cast-brass finials to the four top corners, surmounted by a cast-brass handle and all standing on bracket feet, height 39.5cm handle down, 43.5cm handle up.* Biography Brounker Watts was a fine maker having been apprenticed to the eminent clockmaker Joseph Knibb in 1685. A Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers from 1693, he signed the Clockmakers' Company oath of allegiance in 1697. He avoided stewardship of the Comapny in 1711 by being 'out of town'. Stringer, Nantwich, an oak longcase clock: the thirty-hour duration movement striking the hours on a bell (missing) with an outside countwheel, the eleven-inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman hour numerals, flame half-hour markings and the makers name Stringer, Namptwich, with a single blued-steel hand, date aperture to the matted dial centre and cast-brass four-seasons spandrels to the four corners, the oak case with mahogany crossbanding, the flat-top hood with three-quarter columns and blind fretwork, height 212cm.* Biography Stringer is recorded as working in Nantwich (old name Namptwich), Cheshire in the early 18th century.
