Unusual Post WW1 Converted M98 Bayonet Into a Log Splitter single edged, butcher bayonet with rounded point. Steel, turn up quillon. Steel pommel with locking stud removed. Wooden, grooved slab grips. The tip of the blade with hinged bracket secured to the scabbard with four V slots cut into it to hold the logs. Scabbard with transfer “Splitter D.R.P.a”
Bavarian 1847/1895 Buckle brass, rectangular buckle with overlaid white metal “In Treve Fest” and oak leaf circlet with central crown. Rear, brass securing loop. Prong and bracket absent. Together with three, white metal, Prussian buckle overlays. “Gott Mit Uns” and oak leaf circlet with central crown. 4 items.
THOROWGOOD OF LONDON; a good George III mahogany bracket clock, the brass swing loop handle above arched dial set with silvered chapter ring beneath a calendar ring with twin chain driven fusée movement striking on a bell with engraved back plate, fish scale brass side grills and raised on brass bracket feet, with key and pendulum, height 50cm.Additional InformationSold with a key which works both front and back case, also a winding key sold with a pendulum which is probably associated. The silk on the side grills is perished in parts. There is an unsightly screw to the side to both sides of the case holding the brackets supporting the movement, this may indicate the movement is associated to the case or has been altered in some way. The dial is slightly ill fitting to the recess. No guarantee of working order, there are few small knocks to the case, a tiny bit of moulding missing upper left corner, a couple of splits to the veneer.
A George III oak chest with frieze drawer above two short and three long drawers on ogee bracket feet, height 104cm, width 105cm, depth 57.5cm.Additional InformationHeavy wear and tear throughout, the top has numerous splits, one plank very badly so, and this is somewhat loose and will need attention, further losses, scuffs, scrapes, scratches, heavy and deep gouges, chips to moulding, a loose plank to the lower drawer secured with tape, replacement handles and keyholes which have been moved, general heavy wear and commensurate with age and heavy use, will need attention and restoration.
A good early 19th century mahogany wardrobe, the cornice with broken swan neck pediment above panelled doors and base of two short drawers raised on bracket feet, width approx 138cm.Additional InformationAt the moment it is a kit form wardrobe, which was taken to pieces to get into the saleroom, so until it is assembled, it is not fair to do a condition report.

There is heavy wear and tear throughout, scratches, scuffs, scrapes, the right hand cupboard door has a vertical split, knock and losses to the moulding, particularly the corners and edges in general need of attention and restoration.

The top itself is split. There is a patch of wood running the entire back length. Also a patch where the locks meet. The interior is heavily worn, it has been re-baized, re-hinged and repaired where the old hinges were. There is filler in areas to raised parts. There are splits to the fall. It has been re-handled, There are patches to the drawer front and numerous areas of timber which have been inset. Overall in poor order.

A Chinese celadon jardiniere, 20th century, the flat rim and deep well with a grey/green glaze with wide crackle, resting on four bracket feet, the underside with a gilt engraved inscription, probably reproducing a poem to the order of the Emperor Qianlong, 21.4cmCondition report: At least 60% of the interior bowl and rim has a white speckled finish beneath the glaze (see images). There are no obvious cracks to the body, nor chips or restorations.

A fine George II walnut crossbanded mahogany bureau cabinet, circa 1740, with original engraved brass hardware throughout. The top section with a broken arched pediment above two glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves and three drawers above candle-slides. The base with well fitted interior above four draws on shaped bracket feet. 92in (234cm) high; 39in. (99cm) wide; 21in. (53cm) deep.Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, Some old splits and cracks. Chips and losses.One front foot with old crack through and front most section broken off, this is present and requires some glue to repair, other feet with similar old cracks and splits and probably have previously had some level of repair. The internal door jam to the top is split and detached - it is present again with lot.The glazing to the doors probably later, The interior fitted and with arrangement of drawers and compartments around the secret drawers and central cupboards, also with a concealed well. There are marks and stains here from use - the inset to the fall appears to be later.The centre of the broken pediment with a platform - this appears to have a plug to the socket - it may had had an urn or similar finial here previously.Locks and handles appear original throughout, the key to to fall and drawers operating at time of report, some elements sticking and would probably benefit form an oilPlease refer to additional images for visual reference to conditionCondition Report Disclaimer
A George III mahogany serpentine chest of drawers, circa 1760, the shaped caddy top with moulded edge, above four long graduated drawers, flanked by tablet moulded canted angles, on shaped bracket feet and concealed castors, with original handles, 82cm high, 103cm wide, 62cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. Some additional splits to top and sides with dark filler/wax used to help disguise (see images). Old nail repair to splits at back corner of top. Handles and escutcheons appear original but have been removed and re-applied upside-down. This is only noticeable to the top drawer as the filled hole no longer corresponds to the hole in the handle. Due to the thickness of the upper drawer front the handles have been fixed in place using screws. Locks appear original. No key present, all locks are open. Top drawer was originally fitted, it is now lacking its division. Some chips and losses to beading. Some small sections of replacement veneer. Some evidence of old worm to the underside. Small amounts of filler used in places.Some opening between the boards of the drawers, with filler and tape applied to the undersides to help secure in places. BUCHANAN STREET, GLASGOW', 122.5cm high, 115cm wide, 36cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old minor chips and splits. Some water marks and some additional darker marks to the top. No key present, lock is open. Shadow from where handle fixture has revolved in place. A 19th century bureau desk with drop-down desk top with interior drawers and pigeonholes with small turned knobs, narrow frieze drawer above three drawers to bracket supports, height 111cm, width 101cm. CONDITION REPORT Age-related wear in the form of scratches, scuffs and small indentations, some fading to the drop-down desk top. Age-related splits to the side, missing piece of left rear bracket support, approx 2.5cm in height, resulting in some instability to the bureau.

J Watson, Blackburn; an early 19th century mahogany eight-day longcase clock with twisted column supports, break arch pediment and arched door, on bracket feet, the circular dial painted with floral sprays to each corner and set with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, twin winding holes, chiming movement and rolling moon and rural cottage phase, height 237cm. CONDITION REPORT In good going order, has been sympathetically restored in places. The movement looks new but in the traditional style and some areas of the dial have been touched up, all done to a good standard.
