Winterhalder and Hofmeier, a Victorian ebonised and brass repeating bracket clock, the brass dial with silvered chapter ring and black Roman numerals, fast/slow dial above, the movement signed W & H Sch. striking on four plus one gongs, for the hours and quarters, the case with applied brass finials and scroll feet, height 43 cm. Winterhalder and Hofmeier are possibly the most famous of the German Victorian clockmakers. The firm was started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910. A large part of their output was made for Britain and the quality of movements and cases is always very high as seen in this example.

A 19th century silk embroidered wine red ground wool panel, now double sided, originally crested with an Emperor and Empress enthroned amongst attendants above a deer, bat and pine tree within bracket and scattered flower bands, now with the deer on one side and the figures on the other and edged in black silk, two embroidered seal marks, 198 x 183cm (78 x 72 in) This has some fraying and some holes in the background. The side with the figure cresting has faded more than the side with the deer.

A late 19th century French brass eight day mantel clock with gilt metal foliate decorated globular top above similarly decorated circular dial set with Arabic numerals with a fluted column to each corner above rectangular base on bracket feet, with Samuel Marti movement, stamped 6447/41, height 35.5cm including finial. CONDITION REPORT: Strikes on a coiled gong. General surface scratches and wear, overall ok. This has not been wound so unable to check springs. Lot comes with a pendulum.
