A 19th Century marquetry inlaid mahogany bureau banded in satinwood, bordered with boxwood and ebonised lines, the sloping hinged fall with a large oval satinwood veneered panel decorated with a classical urn and scrolling foliate designs, enclosing an inlaid and fitted interior with small drawers and pigeon holes about a central enclosed cupboard decorated with a standing figure of a huntsman holding a gun, having curved quarter upright concealed compartments, containing an arrangement of two short and three long drawers below, on bracket feet, 109cm (3ft 7in) wide.
A George III mahogany bureau bookcase, the upper part with a moulded dentil cornice and arcaded frieze, fitted with adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of astragal glazed panel doors, the lower part having a sloping hinged fall enclosing a fitted interior with a central cupboard enclosed by a pair of moulded panel doors, flanked by six small drawers to either side, containing two short drawers and with cupboard below fitted with six short drawers and open compartments, enclosed by a pair of moulded panel doors on ogee bracket feet, 112cm (3ft 8in) wide, 228cm (7ft 6in) high.
A George III mahogany linen press, the upper part with a moulded dentil cornice, fitted with sliding trays enclosed by a pair of rosewood crossbanded and boxwood and ebony strung oval panel doors, the lower part containing two short and a single long drawer, on bracket feet. 130cm (4ft 3in) wide.
A Regency mahogany and inlaid secretaire bookcase, the upper part with shaped pediment, with roundel and drapery ornament, fitted with adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of lancet glazed panel doors, the lower part having a fall decorated with ebonised lines and enclosing a fitted interior with satinwood veneered small drawers and pigeon holes, containing three long drawers below with brass lions mask and ring handles, on later bracket feet, 100.5cm (3ft 3 1/2in) wide, 237.5cm (7ft 9 1/2in) high.
A Chantilly trembleuse toilet bowl painted in the Kakiemon palette with flowering branches and insects, a flaw painted with flowers and leaves hanging from a diaper pattern ‘bracket’, brown line rim, hunting horn mark in iron-red, circa 1740 - 50, 17.5 cm diameter, a chip to two of the trembleuse flanges.
Winterhalder & Hofmeier, Schrwazenbach an ebonised quarter chiming bracket clock, the triple-fusee movement chiming the quarters on eight bells or four gongs and the hour on a further gong, the backplate stamped W&H, Sch, 1886, for the maker, with the brass seven-inch arched dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and fleur-de-lys half-hour markings, with the two lower cast spandrels of cherub-head form and the further two of C-scroll form, the arch with three subsidary dials for regulation; strike/silent and Chime on Eight Bells/Chime on Four Gongs, the ebonised bell-top case with further cherub-head spandrels set within the door, carytids with grotesque masks to the corners, cast mounts to the plinth, with floral mounts to the top and four cast urn finials to the top corners and surmounted by a further large urn finial, standing on brass claw feet, height 70cm.* Anton Winterhalder founded the business in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810 taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the company finally closing upon the death of Linus, last son of Winterhalder, in 1930. The movements and clocks made by this firm are often believed to be the among the best produced in Germany at this time.
Nathaniel Brown, Manchester, an 18th century longcase clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the twelve-inch square brass dial with a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic five-minute outer numerals, flame half-hour markings and the makers name Nathl. Brown, Manchester, with cast-brass female-head spandrels the matted dial centre with a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and engraved with foliate decoration, with decorative blued steel hands, the oak case with crossbanding to the shaped trunk door, base and hood door, the caddy top hood with two brass ball-and-spire finials, full pillars to the front with giltwood capitals and a fretwork frieze below the top moulding, standing on bracket feet, height 218cm.* Nathaniel Brown is recorded as working in Manchester from circa 1750 until circa 1800.
John Carlyon, Falmouth, an 18th century oak longcase clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, with the twelve-inch break-arch dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic five-minute outer numerals, fleur-de-lys half-hour markings and engraved either side of VI o’clock with the makers name John Carlyon, Falmouth, the matted centre with a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture with engraved foliate decorative surround surmounted by a ho-ho bird, with wheat-ear border engraving , decorative blued steel hands and cast-brass urn spandrels to the four corners, the arch with a silvered boss engraved with a depiction of the sun, the oak case with a break-arch trunk door, turned three-quarter columns to the caddy-top hood with the plain base standing on bracket feet, height 226 cms.* John Carlyon is recorded as working in Falmouth in the early 18th century having married Ann Jenkins in 1729. He put his name to a marriage bond in 1740.
An early 19th Century oak, mahogany crossbanded and inlaid standing corner display cabinet, with a moulded dentil cornice and canted angles, the frieze decorated with oval shell medallion and paterae, the green painted interior with serpentine fronted fixed shelves enclosed by a pair of astragal glazed panel doors above and below, on bracket feet, 118cm (3ft 10 1/2in) across, 220cm (7ft 2 1/2in) high.
William Webster, London, a walnut bracket clock with an eight-day duration, double-fusee, five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell, converted from verge escapement to anchor escapement, the backplate engraved with C-scroll decoration and the makers name Wm Webster, Exchange Alley, London, the eight-inch square silvered dial en-graved with a repeat of the makers name, with black Roman numerals, Arabic five-minute markings, strike/silent to the top left-hand corner and with decorative blued steel hands, the later 17th century style case with a caddy-top, cast brass mounts and brass carrying handle, height 44cm (inc. handle)
EARLY 20TH CENTURY WELSH OAK SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE, having moulded cornice over two arch glazed doors revealing fitted shelves to the interior and flanked by moulded corbals, on a projecting base with shell inlaid secretaire drawer above two arch foliate moulded panel doors, flanked by moulded corbals standing on bracket feet. C1800. Probably Welsh. 50" Wide x 20" Deep x 64" High.
LATE GEORGIAN WELSH OAK TWO STAGE HANGING CUPBOARD, having moulded cornice over two blind arch panel doors revealing hanging space to the interior, the projecting base with three dummy freize drawers above two short and one long drawer standing on bracket feet. C1820. Probably North Wales. 52" Wide x 19.5" Deep x 76" High.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY TWO STAGE CORNER CUPBOARD, having moulded cornice over three shaped and fitted shelves originally behind single glazed door, now open, the base with a pair of fan moulded blind cupboard doors with fitted single shelf to the interior, standing on bracket feet. 18TH CENTURY WELSH OAK TALL BOY CHEST ON CHEST, having moulded dentil cornice above flute moulded freize, two short and three long drawers to the upper section flanked by canted angles, the projecting base with three long drawers on bracket feet. C1790. 44" Wide x 22.5" Deep x 75" High. (for restoration).
18TH CENTURY CHINOISERIE LACQUERED EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK, by Charles Clay of London, having flat hood with arched aperture, arch waist door and panel base on bracket feet. The case overall decorated with sepia and gilded chinoiserie designs. Arch brass face with seesaw automoton featuring two gentlemen to the arch, the face with silvered chapter rings, having Roman numerals, seconds dial and date aperture with pierced gilded foliate spandrels, marked Chas Clay London. The face 17" High x 12". Eight day movement striking on one bell. Overall 88" High.
19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY EIGHT DAY LONG CASE CLOCK, by Richard Foote of Faversham, having arched moulded hood with arched aperture flanked by spirally turned columns, the waist with arched door flanked by quarter spirally moulded pilasters on a panel base with bracket feet. Arch painted face decorated with flowers to the arch and the spandrels, Roman numerals, seconds dial and date aperture. The face 18" x 12.5". Eight day movement with false plate, two train movement striking on one bell. 84" High approx.
19TH CENTURY WELSH MAHOGANY EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK, by Thomas Davies of Morriston, the case overall with checker bandings and having arched hood with ball and spike finials above arched aperture flanked by wrythen turned pilasters, the waist with rectangular moulded door flanked by quarter moulded wrythen pilasters on a panelled base with bracket feet. The face painted with cottages and castle ruins and having Roman numerals, seconds dial and date aperture. Eight day movement striking on one bell. The face 18" x 13.5" overall. 90" High.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY OAK AND MAHOGANY THIRTY HOUR LONGCASE CLOCK, by J Wells & Sons of Solihull, the hood with broken swan neck pediment and brass eagle finial above square aperture flanked by reeded columns, the waist with mahogany banded and shell inlaid door flanked by quarter reeded pilasters on a crossbanded panel base with bracket feet. The face with floral spandrels, Roman numerals and painted swan decoration with date aperture. Thirty hour movement strikes on one bell. The face 12" Square.
