An 18th century walnut bureau, width 91cm depth 50cm height 99cmCONDITION: General small scuffs and scratches all over. Later shepherds castors. All drawer fronts, the fall and the top are slightly bowed. Some replacement veneers and losses to stiles and rails. Shrinkage to oak drawer bases with some fillets of wood added to open joins. Handles and escutcheons and locks original to drawers. Lock, hinges and leather inset to fall are later. It is possible is a period replacement. This bureau has a long to drawer and a sliding well inside which appears to be original. Later bracket feet.
A MIDDLE EASTERN SYRIAN PARQUETRY INLAID GAMES TABLE, 20TH CENTURY, with intricately inlaid bone, mother-of-pearl, olive, and various other woods in stylized geometric stars, flowers, and lozenges on a stepped rectangular hinged top opening to double recessed backgammon game boards enclosing a matching removable hinged chessboard, above a flat panel apron with bracket corners flanked by stepped arch sides, raised on cabriole legs joined by a shelf stretcher with zig-zag and lozenge parquetry inlay, includes game pieces. AN AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE CHERRY GATELEG GAME TABLE, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY, the nicely figured cherry hinged top with rounded edge above a single frieze drawer enclosing a pair of bronze bale form handles with "C" scroll and foliate details on stylized floret back plates, over molded trim raised on square form Marlborough legs with fretwork bracket corners and ending on conforming block feet; height: 28 1/4" width: 32 1/8" depth: 18", opened depth: 36 1/4". Provenance: Estate of Francis E. And Henrietta C. Judson, Wayne, Pennsylvania. Condition: Good restored condition for American tables of this age, use and materials including but not limited to expected old surface scratches, marks, some very small burn spots on top when opened, dings, age cracks, old repairs, a few small restorations, and normal surface buildup in crevices. The brackets are probably later. The bronze handles are old, worn and stylistically work for this table, when removed they reveal nice original darker patina with an outline exactly following the floret backplates. Condition: Good restored condition with warping, filled areas, repairs, normal marks and scratches from use, age cracks, brass hardware, and locks are later but appropriate for the style, surface buildup in areas, and expected general wear. The leather writing surface appears to be old if not original with rubbed gilt tooling, various residue marks, stains and wear from age and use. Height: 42" Width: 40" Depth: 20" Condition: Good condition for antique furniture of this age, use and materials including but not limited to normal age cracks, old repairs, restorations, expected marks, scratches, dings, chips, losses, small double ring marks on top, interior writing surface has old ink spill marks, old varnished underside, and back of case as well as interior/exterior of drawers.
