An early 18th century oak chest of drawers, with later oyster veneered walnut veneers, the rectangular top well figured and crossbanded with moulded edge above two short and three long graduated drawers with brass swans neck drop handles with shaped backplates and well figured drawer fronts being boxwood and ebony strung, with moulding below and raised on bracket feet. A JAEGER-LE COULTRE ‘ATMOS’ BRASS MANTEL CLOCK of rectangular form with glass panels to each side and top, the exposed brass movement and circular dial with Arabic hours to the quarters, the movement marked Jaeger-Le Coultre, Atmos along with number 415968, raised on a plinth base with short bracket feet. 22cm(h) x 18cm(w) x 13.5cm(d).
A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH EIGHT-DAY BRASS MANTEL CLOCK by J Marti, the moulded cornice type surmount over the four bevelled glass panels and moulded brass uprights, the enamelled dial with Roman hours to the chapter ring framing a recessed central section with two winding apertures and exposed anchor escapement, the twin train striking movement marked ‘Medaille de bronze J Marti,’ all over a suspended pendulum with two mercury filled vials, on a broad platform base with narrow bracket feet. 28cm(h) x 16.5cm(w) x 13cm(d).
A 19TH CENTURY OAK AND MAHOGANY 30-HOUR LONG CASE CLOCK by William Hutchinson of Sedbergh, having a moulded flat topped cornice and plain frieze over the square glazed hood door, flanked by turned columns, the arched and crossbanded trunk door above a small moulded panel and plain crossbanded base with short bracket feet, the chapter ring painted with Roman hours and framing a subsidiary date dial and maker’s name, all framed by painted floral spandrels, sold with weight and pendulum. 200cm(h).
AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY 30-HOUR OAK LONG CASE CLOCK, the flat-topped hood with moulded cornice and plain frieze over the square glazed hood door and turned columns, the long shaped trunk door between quarter columns, on a plain base with canted corners and short bracket feet, the painted dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes to the chapter ring, enclosing a subsidiary seconds dial and maker’s name H Philipson of Ulverstone, all framed by foliate painted spandrels, sold with weight and pendulum. 208cm(h).
A 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE having a pierced swan neck pediment, a short moulded and feather banded cornice and plain frieze, two glazed doors with arched and overlapping glazing bars. The lower stage having a crossbanded rectangular top, deep secretaire drawer disguised as two cockbeaded drawers opening by button release to reveal the internal arrangement of drawers and pigeon holes, the three long cockbeaded drawers with canted rectangular brass back plates and bale type handles, raised on bracket feet centred by a shaped apron. 250cm(h) x 110cm(w) x 55cm(d).

A LATE 17TH CENTURY OAK COURT CUPBOARD, the frieze carved with strap-work motifs centred by a date 1694 and ownership initials SLM, having barley twist uprights, two central panels with inlaid surround, and two flanking cupboard doors, all above a short central drawer flanked by two larger drawers over two triple panelled cupboard doors and central panelled section, all between stile ends, raised on later additional bracket feet. 155cm(h) x 184cm(w) x 57cm(d).
A late 19th century Russian silver and enamelled salt Moscow 1885, maker A.K, of triangular and hexagonal form, the salt with three floral champleve decorated panels, and the other three with a traditional Russian quote, translating as "Bread and salt are the soul of any conversation" supported on a spool support with open bracket supports, slight concave triangular base with three niches, two with Russian male head the other with a Russian lady, all on scrolling corbel supports and feet 8.5cm high This proverb was often (and still is) inscribed on salt shakers, bread bowls, dishes, etc. and it means that bread and salt (symbols of giving strangers a warm welcome, an old Russian custom) will make your guests feel at home. It reflects Russian traditions of hospitality.
