A George III mahogany bureau bookcase, moulded cornice above a pair of doors enclosing a shelf, fall front enclosing a small door, small drawers, pigeonholes and 'secret' compartments, above two short and three long graduated cockbeaded drawers, bracket feet, 227.5cm high, 120.5cm wide, 53cm deep
An 18th century oak eight-day long case clock, named Miles Wedred (Kirby Lonsdale), having a moulded flat-topped hood over glazed door and turned columns, the brass dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes to the chapter ring, enclosing two winding apertures, rolling date aperture, makers details and subsidiary seconds dial, all within ornate brass spandrels, the trunk with shaped arched door with iron axe-form hinges over a plain panelled base with bracket feet, sold with weights and pendulum. ***The case having some later structural additions including seat board. **** Miles Wedred worked in Kirby Lonsdale in the early part of the 18th century, and reputedly used Gillows of Lancaster 'Cases'.
A part 17th century brass, steel and iron 'hook and spike' lantern clock , with finial topped strapped-crown enclosing the bell (now detached) over fret-cut surmounts and finials, the chapter ring with Roman hours enclosing engraved detail and single marker/hand, posted steel work appears original, some adaptations including replacement of crown wheel with anchor escapement, sold with oak suspension bracket, weight and pendulum. dial 15.5cm diameter It appears that the steel framework is original and the spiked back plate and some brass. The surmounts, base and parts of the movement look to be later or adapted.
Ming dynasty Thickly molded with a raised edge to the bracket-lobed rim, the lobed sides forming the shallow well, peony blossom spray incised across the floor within a double ring frame, the exterior walls similarly molded above the foot ring and a lustrous olive-green glaze covering all surfaces except a firing ring within the recessed base. It appears to have been refurbished at some stage however we cannot get it to maintain a 'tick' long term, adjustment will therefore be required. Please see all additional images.
Stephen Rimbault, London, bracket clock, 8-day double fuse movement striking on single bell with repeater, brass arched dial, date with date aperture, arch with strike silent dial, ebonised case with folding brass handle.width 25cm (10"), depth 17cm (7"), height 43cm (17")Movement appears to have had a restoration at some point recently, case in keeping with age, minor wear marks. Height is 18.5inches with the handle. You can see movement through the window on the face of the clock. Clock carries a tick. As far as we can ascertain the movement is original.
