A D-section gold hoop with scrolled leaf and bracket detail to the shoulders and plaque, domed lid hinged above, recess with skull modelled in the half-round, inset diamonds to the eye-sockets. 12 grams, 23mm overall, 17.20mm internal diameter (approximate size British N, USA 6 3/4, Europe 14.0, Japan 13) (1"). Property of a Suffolk lady; acquired on the UK art market. [No Reserve] Fine condition.

A white-glazed ceramic vessel with bulbous body, flared base, barrel-shaped neck, flange and conical spout, hollow round-section handle with support bracket; incised panels of geometric decoration to the shoulder and neck. 1.6 grams, 27cm (10 1/2"). From a West Sussex collection formed before 1980; most of the collection being acquired by Desmond Morris in the 1980s. Fine condition, chipped, repaired at handle.

New Bond Str', with a 9cm enamelled chapter ring with Arabic hour numeral, four pillar double fusee movement striking on a spiral gong, the stepped hood with leaf-cast handle, glazed sides, on a plinth base, on bracket feet 22,5cm high excluding handle This exceptional wooden cased clock is a rare find at auction in South Africa. In the style of a carriage clock it is an intriguing piece. William Payne is first recorded as working in London in 1816. In 1825 he moved to New Bond Street which is the address inscribed on this clock.
