A George III mahogany serpentine fronted chest of drawers, with crossbanded edge above four long graduated drawers with brass drop handles and cockbeading to each drawer front and raised on bracket feet. Width 116 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top which is generally a good colour does have some issues. There is a stress fracture to the veneers running from the centre veneer join approximately ¾ of the way across the top to either side. There is a triangular veneer repair to the centre of the top and a further veneer repair to the centre front of the right hand side of the top. The crossbanded edge is all in good condition as is the edge moulding. The sides of the chest are in generally good condition. The right hand side has one 8 cm stress fracture. The drawer fronts are in generally good order. If the handles are not original they go through the original handle holes. The cockbeading to all drawers is in good condition. The veneer to drawer two has a stress fracture to the right hand side. There are however no losses. Drawer three is in basically good order. Drawer four has a veneer loss to the bottom edge just above the moulding. There is a further small area of filler between that and the lock escutcheon. The rear legs are both present and other than minor surface marks and scratches appear to be in good order. The chest seems to be structurally sound. The left hand rear leg has evidence of woodworm in the softwood. This does not appear to have travelled and we believe it to be long gone.

There is a veneer loss to the rear left hand top corner and a small veneer repair to the crossbanding above the parquetry on the same side. There are minor veneer repairs to the rear of the left leg. There are minor veneer scratches and chips around the front right hand leg. The backboards are original and in good condition. All of the metalwork seems to be present and not loose.
