A unique piece of Guernsey pub history - `The Hangman`s Inn` pub sign this painted steel and wrought iron sign, depicting the classic hooded hangman next to his gallows, hung outside the Guernsey Brewery pub `The Hangman`s Inn` for many years until the pub`s closure in 2005 and was a landmark at the Bailiff`s Cross crossroads, St. Andrews. The sign is complete with its wrought iron wall mounting bracket. The sign measures 50 x 25in. (127 x 63cm.) excluding the bracket. (2) * This is the first time that this iconic sign has been available on the open market, having been acquired from BBC Radio Guernsey by the current owners through a Children in Need charity auction in 2007.

A good early 19th century eight day inlaid mahogany longcase clock the twin train, four turned pillar, bell strike movement signed `FRANCIS` to the front plate, the arched brass dial with foliate engraved centre with engraved subsidiary seconds dial at noon and arched date aperture at six, signed `Webb & Son, Frome`, silvered Roman chapter ring with Arabic outer minutes, pierced black steel hands, gilt brass mask spandrels, painted moonphase to arch, in a good inlaid mahogany case, the hood with three eagle and ball brass finials over a cross banded and satinwood inlaid arched frieze on fluted pillars headed by gilt brass capitals, the trunk with canted corners, tulipwood banding and ebony stringing, the door centred with an inlaid oval, the base with conforming inlaid roundel, raised on slender bracket feet, 97in. (247cm.) high.
