A George I walnut chest-on-chest with cross and feather banded borders, the break arch dentil moulded pediment above three short and six long drawers and a brushing slide, all with brass drop handles and flanked by reeded canted corners on bracket feet, height approx 206cm, width approx 110cm. An early 19th Century mahogany eight day longcase clock, the 12 inch painted arched dial inscribed 'Peter Wood, Littlehampton' with a two-train movement, subsidiary second and day of the month aperture, the arch with phases of the moon, ships, and a grave-yard scene, the arched hood with three brass finials above a pair of fluted columns, an arched door and a plain base with a bowed apron and bracket supports, 223 cm high. An early 18th Century oak cased Eight Day Long Case Clock, John Thornton, the hood with overhanging cornice and shaped pediment over free standing baluster columns to an ogee throat with long plain trunk door, and raised on a plinth base with shaped bracket to an 11” square brass dial with cherub and crown cast and applied spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with outside track and inside quarters with fleur de lys half hour markers with matted centre containing subsidiary seconds over a date sector with ringed winding squares, to a movement united by four knopped and thinned pillars with anchor escapement and count wheel strike on a bell (case and movement associated), height 80 ½”
