A George III oak cupboard on chest, the top half with moulded cornice above a pair of arched doors enclosing shelves, the base fitted with two short and three long graduated drawers with brass swans neck drop handles with shaped back plates and brass lock escutcheons, the whole raised on bracket feet. Height 202 cm, width 105.5 cm, depth 54 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cupboard is in generally extremely good condition. It is structurally very sound. There are a few very minor blemishes but no significant losses. The cupboard doors both close as they should. They are not warped. We have the locks and keys. All drawer fronts are in good condition. All locks are present. We do not have the keys for the drawer locks. None are actually locked. The handles are old but later replacements. The piece will originally have had wooden knob handles as per the doors. The bracket feet are in good condition. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
Los 1380
A George III mahogany standing corner cabinet, with moulded Greek key cornice above a pair of glazed upper doors with wooden astragals, the base with crossbanded panelled doors and all raised on bracket feet. Height 205 cm, width 120 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The swans neck pediment detaches. It is in good order. The cornice below has edge scuffs and marks and has been repaired on the left hand return. There is also a small loss on the right hand return. Very small pieces of the Greek key cornice are missing. The frieze beneath is in good order. The upper glazed doors close as they should. There is no warping. The lock is present and we have the key. The canted angles are in good order. The base doors are not warped. The lock is present and the same key operates it. The right hand bracket foot has a timber loss which should be visible in our image. The painted shelves and backboards are original. The gloss paint is later.

A Victorian walnut vitrine, with moulded edge above a pair of glazed boxwood strung drawers and raised on bracket feet. Height 104 cm, width 106 cm, depth 32.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally good condition. It is structurally sound. The top is flat with no significant marks or scuffs. There has been a small repair at the front right hand corner. The frieze beneath has one small veneer loss to the right hand side. The doors close correctly and are not warped. The lock is present but we have no key. Both pilasters are in good order. The sides are in generally good condition. The plinth base has minor scuffs and marks but no real problems. The back panel is original. The velvet lining is somewhat faded.

A George III mahogany linen press, with detachable moulded cornice above pair of panelled cupboard doors opening to trays, the base fitted with two short and two long graduated drawers with brass drop handles and octagonal backplates and all raised on splayed bracket feet. Height 212 cm, width 130 cm, depth 59 cm.
Los 1552
An 18th century small oak Bach coffer, with hinged box top, three panelled front, fitted with two drawers beneath and raised on bracket feet. Width 68 cm, depth 36 cm, height excluding top. Box 43.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The coffer is structurally very sound. We have not seen a coffer of this construction before. Clearly the top lidded box has been in situ for a very long time but whether it is original to the piece is difficult to ascertain. The grain and colour of the oak to the top lid is different to the main body of the piece. However the colour of the sides and bottom moulding of the top box are similar to the rest of the piece. We feel that this top box is a later edition albeit a very old one. The colour and patina of the top of the coffer itself are very good. The panels are in good condition to the front. The side panels are in good order. The back is unfinished but original. The rear plinth similarly is unfinished at the back but clearly original. There is possibly a section of moulding missing here. The base side panels are in good order with some minor scuffs and marks to the extremities. The drawers run smoothly. The handles are not original.

An Edwardian inlaid satinwood bureau bookcase, with arched pediment above a pair of glazed doors with wooden astragals, the base with slope front to fitted interior and with three graduated drawers with brass drop handles with circular backplates and raised on bracket feet. Height 200 cm, width 64 cm, depth 46 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bureau bookcase is structurally sound. It is generally a very good colour. The pediment is in good condition as is the cornice and frieze beneath. The upper doors close as they should and are not warped. The lock is present and we have the key. There are two panes of cracked glass. The sides of the top are in good order. The flap is not warped. It closes as it should. We have the lock and key. There is a veneer loss to the flap top right hand corner. The sides of the bureau have some old marks and stains and minor veneer losses but no significant problems. To the left hand bottom corner of the flap on the side carcass there is a veneer loss and minor springing above the loper. The bureau interior is in good order. All drawer fronts are in good condition. The bracket feet have minor veneer nibbles but are original. The backboards are original and in good order.

An early 19th century mahogany bowfronted chest of drawers, three short over three long with brass drop handles and oval back plates, with shaped apron below and raised on bracket feet. Width 120 cm, height 106 cm, depth 65.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chest is in extremely good order. It is structurally sound. The top has no issues. The moulded edge is in good order all round. The sides are of good colour and have significant issues. The drawer fronts are all in good order with no significant issues. The handles to all drawers bar the centre drawer are replacements but have age. There is no evidence of any further handle holes when viewed from the front. The shaped apron is in good order. The bracket feet are in good condition also with only minor old stress fractures and minor veneer repairs and nibbles. The backboards are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.

A walnut chest of drawers, in the George II style with slide above three long drawers with brass drop handles and similar backplates flanked by canted fluted angles and raised on bracket feet. Height 81 cm, width 76 cm, depth 52 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest is in extremely good order. The top is of good colour with no significant marks or scratching. The side and drawers run smoothly. There are no issues with the drawer fronts. The handles are all in good condition as are the lock escutcheons. The locks are present but we have no key. The sides of the chest are not cracked. The bracket feet are in good order all round. The backboards are original.

A George III mahogany bow fronted chest of drawers, with moulded edge above four long graduated drawers with circular brass drop handles and backplates and raised on splayed bracket feet. Width 40 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chest is in generally extremely good condition. It is structurally sound. The top is flat. There is a small old veneer repair to the front right hand corned and some minor stress fractures in places. The moulded edge is in good condition all round. There are no splits to the sides. All drawer fronts are in good condition. Drawer 2 is missing the lock. The other locks are present but we have no keys. The handles appear to be original. The apron is in good order. All bracket feet are in good condition. The backboards are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.

An early 19th century mahogany satinwood banded bow fronted chest of drawers, two short and three long with brass drop handles with oval back plates and raised on splayed bracket feet. Width 113 cm, height 109 cm, depth 53 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest of drawers is structurally sound. The top is of good colour with no significant splits or marks. The left hand side of the satinwood banding has slight lifting in one place and there are some minor old stress fractures. The edge beading has minor losses to the returns. The drawer fronts are in generally good order. Long drawers two and three have cockbeading missing to the right hand sides. All locks are present. There are some minor timber losses to the left and right front facing side uprights particularly where the drawer runners join the carcass. This should be visible on our images. The sides of the chest are in generally good condition with the usual slight polish deterioration, minor scuffs and old stress fractures. The bracket feet are all present and original but do have some veneer nibbles particularly to the sharp edges. The handles are not original.

A George III mahogany longcase clock by Joseph Gibson Ecclefechan, with brass dial and eight day striking movement with moon phase, the case with swans neck pediment, fluted columns and well figured trunk door. Height 236 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock is in generally extremely good condition. The case has clearly been fairly recently re-polished and is in extremely good order. The gilt terminals to the swans neck pediment and the capitals to the pillars have been re-painted. The hood is in good condition. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the case are in good condition. The bracket feet are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away. It strikes when advanced. The dial and moon phase have had some restoration and are in good condition with only minor marks and scratches as one would probably expect.

A Regency mahogany brass strung lancet type bracket clock, by Grant Fleet Street London, with enamelled dial and two train striking movement, both the dial and backplate marked with the makers details. Height 46 cm, width excluding lions mask handles 25 cm, depth 14 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. It is currently ticking away. The movement strikes when advanced but is currently striking at quarter to the hour rather than on the full hour. Clearly some adjustment somewhere is necessary. The dial is in generally good order with some minor overpainting around the right hand winding aperture. The door closes as it should. It locks and we have the key. The rear door closes correctly. The lock is present. The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. All brasswork is present. There are no significant splits or fractures and no significant damage.

An antique elm dresser, with moulded edge and fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards raised on bracket feet. Height 78 cm, width 130 cm, depth 49 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dresser base is in extremely good order. It is a good colour. The top is flat with no losses or any significant scuffs or marks. The moulded edge is in good condition all round. All drawer fronts are in good order. The handles appear to be original as are the lock escutcheons. Both doors close as they should. They are not warped. The bracket feet are in good order all round. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. Both door locks are present. We have the key which also operates the drawer locks. There is a half shelf behind the left hand cupboard door. There is no shelf in the right hand cupboard, but supports for one are present.

A 19th century mahogany chest of drawers, boxwood strung with two short and two long drawers with brass drop handles with oval backplates and raised on splayed bracket feet. Width 104 cm, height 77 cm, depth 56 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest is in generally very good condition. The top is flat with no splits or veneer losses. There are some surface scratches and minor marks but nothing of any issue. The sides of the piece are not cracked and have only minor scuffs and very minor stress fractures. The top right hand drawer front has veneer stress fractures and very minor veneer nibbles to the left hand side. There are also some scratches to the polish surface. The remaining drawer fronts are in better condition. The bottom drawer has a small section of cockbeading missing in the bottom right hand corner. The shaped apron and bracket feet are in good condition all round. The backboards are original.

A Mappin & Webb mantle clock, with burr yew veneered case, single train movement raised on carved bracket feet. Height 15 cm, depth 8 cm, width 13 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds and the clock is currently ticking away. The silvered dial has some minor scratches to the silvering. The numerals have some black paint loss. The case itself is in generally very good order with no losses or any significant damage. The colour is good. There are no missing sections of veneer to the front or sides and only minor nibbles around the edge of the rear push in door. These are not visible with the door in position. The bracket feet are original and all present. We have the winding key.

A late 19th/early 20th century bureau bookcase by Shoolbred & Co, with fretwork swans neck pediment to the detachable cornice above a pair of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the base with slope front to fitted interior above four oak lined drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet, stamped J A S Shoolbred & Co to the top drawer. Height 228 cm, width at cornice 92 cm, depth 46 cm (see illustration).

A Queen Anne style walnut veneered chest of drawers, with crossbanded edge, reentrant corners and four long graduated drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Height 74 cm, width 65 cm, depth 36 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest is in generally extremely good order. The top is flat with no splits or breaks. The edge moulding is in good order all round. There are no splits to the sides. All drawers run smoothly and all drawer fronts are in good condition. All locks are present. We have the keys. The bracket feet are in good order. The oak backboards are in good condition also.
Los 1292
A George III style mahogany dresser base, crossbanded in mahogany and fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards and all raised on bracket feet. Height 85.5 cm, width 182 cm, depth 49 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dresser base is in structurally good condition. The top is flat with no significant warping. It is manufactured from two boards. There is a 1 mm gap between the boards. The top has old watermarks and scratches but no losses. All crossbanding is present. The moulded edge is in good order. The drawer fronts are all in good condition and the handles all appear to be original. One handle is missing. The doors are not warped and close as they should. The interior is generally oak. The backboards are pine. We can see no evidence of any worm. The bracket feet are in good condition all round.
Los 1625
An oak longcase clock, with brass dial inscribed "Jonas Barber" with eight day movement. CONDITION REPORT: This clock is a marriage. The dial does not match the movement. The movement and dial do not match the case. The hood is in generally good order with no significant issues. There is a veneer nibble to the bottom left hand corner of the door. The trunk door is not warped. It locks and we have the key. The base is in generally good order. The lower moulding and bracket feet are old but later replacements. The clock winds on both trains and does strike when advanced. It appears to be ticking away. The movement is dirty. The silvering to the chapter ring is a little perished.
Los 1279
A 19th century mahogany or teak Military chest, in two sections with iron carrying handles to either side and recessed brass drop handles to each of the four drawer fronts. Height 98 cm, width 106 cm, depth 49 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The height of the bottom section excluding the bracket foot is just under 48 cm. The height of the top section is 47 cm. The chest whilst of good colour has had a hard life. The drawer fronts are all in reasonably good order but the lock escutcheons do not appear to be original. There are various sections of brass binding missing and the sides have numerous losses, chips and scratches particularly where the base meets the top half. Some of these are quite significant. The same comments apply to the bottom edges of the sides and to the top right hand side. There is also a significant loss to the rear of the bottom left hand panel.

An 18th century walnut feather banded chest of drawers, with two short over three long drawers with brass drop handles with shaped backplates and raised on bracket feet. Height 91 cm, width 99.5 cm, depth 56 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chest is in generally good order. It is a good colour. It is structurally sound. The top has a nice glassy finish to it. There are numerous old stress fractures to the veneers and minor losses, but this is as one would expect. The top edge moulding has s loss to the left hand corner. All drawer fronts are in generally good order and of good colour. The handles are clearly old but not original. There is evidence of further handles to each drawer front. The sides are in generally good condition. The bottom moulding and bracket feet are all in good order. The backboards are original.

An early 19th century oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock with eight day striking movement by Caygill of Askrigg, the case with swans neck pediment above the arched glazed door and with long trunk door flanked by fretwork quarter round columns. Height 220 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dial is inscribed Cr Caygill Askrigg. The round dowel in the arch is inscribed Henry Gilles Lodge 1771. The mask around the dial does not quite fit. The seatboard is clearly later and not quite deep enough by +/- 0.5 cm. The dial configuration is slightly odd in that there are roundels above the winding apertures indicating that the current eight day movement may not be original to the face (this is pure supposition). The movement winds on both trains. We have both weights. The movement is ticking away and advancing when striking. The pendulum does not appear to be quite the correct fit. The case is in generally good condition. The brass finial is loose as is the carved section beneath the finial. There are some nibbles to the extremities of the swans neck pediment but all dentil work is present. The hood is in generally good order, the door closes correctly. The glass is not cracked. The trunk door is not warped. The blind fretwork to the sides of the trunk door is in good order. The sides of the trunk are in good condition also. The right hand side base fretwork has one small loss. The base itself is in generally good order. The bracket feet are intact. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. Dial width 12”, dial height 17.25"

A George III mahogany serpentine-fronted chest, the cross-banded top satinwood strung and with moulded edge over a fitted compartmentalised drawer with writing sufrace over three further long graduated drawers with brass swan-necked handles raised on bracket feet (96 cm W x 54 cm D x 84.5 cm H) CONDITION REPORTS Whilst basically sound, the piece has discolouration particularly to the top front left side. The top also has splits horizontally along the grain and some small areas of loss though the veneers appear to be in the drawer. There is also discolouration to the left hand side as the piece stood in a bedroom with a window facing this side. The right hand side has much better and more original colour though has a split vertically just behind the curved areat to the front pilaster. The front has again some discolouration to the left side and some areas of cracking to the banding and veneers that are loose or have come away and are in the top drawer. The right foot has a horizontal split visible along the front panel. The piece sits upon later modern castors. See image. The fitted drawer has replacement tooled and gilded writing surface and some splits along the grain to the writing surface. The interior sectional area is basic. The slightly bow fronted sliding cover may or may not be original. There is a key with the piece which fits and works - again, whether original is unknown. The other drawers all appear to work and are intact. See images for further details.
