Dieppe ivory figure of a saint, possibly St John, holding a book, late 19th century, height 37cm, on an oak mount. Condition report: there are natural cracks and fissures, mainly in the back of the figure; the conical bracket that supports the figure is made from several pieces of ivory and is attached to the figure; the oak board may not be the original mount; there is a steel pin in the back of the figure which may be a former mounting pin or it may be to stabilise a fracture in the ivory.
