A George III style mahogany bureau, with fall enclosing a fitted interior, above two short and three graduated long drawers, on bracket feet, incorporates some earlier timbers, 102cm H x 94cm W x 55cm D CONDITION REPORT: The panelling to the back is 20th century stained pine. The handles, escutcheon and hinges are not original. The drawer fronts are re-veneered or partly re-veneered. Other repairs to veneer. The back edge of the top of the bureau is replaced. General light age wear patina throughout. (As found)
A George III and later cross banded walnut bureau, with fall enclosing a fitted interior with various drawers, alcoves and secret compartments, above two short and two long drawers, on bracket feet, 99cm H x 92cm W x 51cm D CONDITION REPORT: The handles and escutcheons are not original. The hinges to the fall and internal door and the leather skivers are also not original. It is possible to see on all drawer fronts where older handles were once placed. The veneer has had some repairs and replacements and some small losses, it may be that the herringbone inlay is not original and other alterations to the veneer also and some coloured replaced sections of veneer below the edge of the fall. General age wear patina of scratches and scuffs throughout. The bracket feet may not be original. However, overall despite faults, of an ok appearance. (Please see additional images)
Mark Hawkins of Bury St Edmunds - an early George III mahogany repeating bedroom bracket clock, having a caddy top with brass carry handle, arched brass dial with silvered disc to the arch signed Mark Hawkins St Edmundsbury, silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, single winding hole for a brass eight day wire driven fusee movement with verge escapement, the hour pull repeat striking three hammers on three bells, finely engraved backplate and engraved brackets, the case with glazed sides, back and door, h.49cm (handle up); together with a later mahogany wall bracket (2)Note: Mark Hawkins of Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket was born in 1707 and died 1767. He was the third son of Mark Hawkins Snr. Hawkins had a workshop at the corner of Hatter Street, Cook Row, Bury St Edmunds and a shop in Newmarket. He is listed in detail in Haggar & Miller's Suffolk Clock & Clockmakers.Case re-polished.Some replacement veneers, especially to left of back door, but generally good.All fretwork panels good.Backplate with four very small unexplained holes.Brackets appear original, no sign of others.All brass good.Appears fairly recently overhauled.In running order.Pull repeat and all hammers working.Bracket with new back.
A pair of early 20th century taxidermy toucans (Ramphastos toco) each mounted on a branch in a naturalistic setting within a glazed display case, bearing a label to the case back for J. Needham, Naturalist 88 Southwark Bridge Road. w.66, d.24, h.70cm.Split to back right of backboard running from top almost completely through to the bottom.Further split to top left corner.Small split to top of case where hanging bracket has been mounted.Water marks to both outside edges.Condition of birds good, colours strong.Naturalistic setting good.Some movement.Taped to top and bottom edges of case.

A Hungarian Szegedi Butor double bass, with pickup, stand, bow and gigbag See illustrationReport by GHBelly area has a couple of let in repairs, signs of filler in places and a repaired crack down one edge, with glue residue. There is a crack running down from one of the S's to the base and a repaired area to the opposite side on the edge were the double base rests on its stand. Sides and edges generally knocked about, with a couple of small holes where a bracket may have been attached at one time. Overall not bad, bow in good condition.

Interior generally good, one drawer front cracked. Hinges replaced. Top two drawers in the base have locks, but the middle does not. The bottom drawer also has a lock. No shelves for top section. Brass work all looks like it is probably original. Just above the top left drawer of the base there is a large knock to the corner of the bureau fall front and some wood loss. General knocks, scratches etc all over. Legs may have been repaired at some point. Drawer linings go back to front. The top and the bottom appear to be of a similar colour and look like they match. Various other splits and gouges to wood in places
