An 18th century oak bureau bookcase, with moulded cornice above a pair of panelled doors opening to shelves, the base with slope front to fitted interior above a series of drawers with brass drop handles, with moulding below and raised on bracket feet. Width 113 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition with no significant issues. Interior generally good. All drawers in good order, handles later but cover original holes. Left hand rear bracket foot a little damaged, right hand front foot return is a replacement. Back boards original, colour generally good.
A Georgian walnut dressing table mirror, the base fitted with three drawers and all raised on bracket feet. Width 38 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The mirror plate is significantly perished as you will see from the image. The mirror surround is in generally good order. There is some springing to the top left hand corner and some rectification would be needed here. The gilt slip has some minor losses also to the top left hand corner. The mirror supports are in good condition. The brass work is all present and original. The top of the base is in generally good condition with old fractures to the veneers to the left and right of the front edge of the mirror supports. The moulded edge has a small loss to the centre on the right hand return. There is slight lifting veneer to the right hand side. The left hand side has a small section of edge moulding missing at the back. The drawers are all in good condition and run as they should. The colour is good. The bracket feet are all original and in good condition. The backboard to the mirror and the base of the piece is original.
A George III oak dresser with Delft rack, with moulded cornice above a series of open shelves, the base fitted with a cupboard and drawers with brass drop handles with shaped backplates and raised on bracket feet. Width 190 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height of base 87.5 cm, depth 53 cm, width 190 cm. Depth of rack 20 cm, height of rack 110 cm. The dresser and rack are in very good overall condition. It is also a good colour. There is a small loss to the top left hand return moulding to the cornice. There is a small loss to the bottom right hand corner of the shaped apron below the cornice. The top of the dresser itself is in generally good condition. The join between the two planks that make up the top is slightly open. There is no movement and the top is flat. The moulded edge is good condition. The sides are in good order as are the bracket feet which are original and structurally sound. The handles to each drawer are not original. There have been other handles and handle holes and backplate marks are visible on all drawer fronts. All drawers run reasonably well. The cupboard is in good condition and not warped. The interior shelf is original.
A set of two carver arm and six single Lancashire style spindle back rush seated dining chairs (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These are all in original untouched condition. There is no evidence of any repairs or restoration. There are no breaks to the legs. One chair is slightly loose at the rear joints and to the back of the front leg corner brackets. The armchair has a stress fracture to the front top corner of the leg bracket. The chairs are generally in very good condition overall. All seats however are tired, a little torn and scuffed.
A late George III mahogany chest of drawers, with four long graduated drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 91 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition. The handles not original but cover old handle holes. Old stress splits to right hand side, feet original.
A mahogany bookcase, with caddy top and three glazed doors with shaped wooden astragals enclosing adjustable shelves and raised on bracket feet. Width 164 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Depth 33 cm, height 122.5 cm, width 164 cm. The bookcase is in generally extremely good condition. It is a good colour. There are no significant scuffs, marks or scratches. The doors are not warped. The locks are present and we have a key. The bracket feet are in good condition. The backboards are original.
A George III mahogany chest of drawers, with two short and three long graduated drawers with canted angles and raised on ogee bracket feet, with label "Removed from Birklands, Kendal, by W.W. Wakefield, March 1939". Width 93 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This chest of drawers is in generally good condition. The top has a series of old ring and ink type marks. It is however flat. There is an old stress fracture to the mahogany at the rear of the top which runs from the left hand return approximately 75% of the way across the top from left to right. This is not lifting but this looks to have been re-polished in recent years. The sides of the chest are in good condition. The drawer fronts are in generally good order and all handles and lock escutcheons are original. There is a very small cockbead repair to the top edge of the bottom drawer. The canted angles are in good condition. The feet are original and structurally sound. The backboards are original also. The drawer linings are oak.
An 18th century mahogany commode chest of drawers, probably Dutch, with serpentine front, four frieze drawers with brass drop handles, shaped backplates and lock escutcheons and with cockbeading to each drawer front, flanked by fluted rounded columns and raised on shaped bracket feet. Width 120 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The handles and lock escutcheons are later replacements. The backplates of each handle cover the original handle holes. This looks to be the second set of handles that the piece has had. The lock escutcheons are clearly a similar age to the handles. The top of the piece is in reasonable condition. There is a stress fracture between the two planks that make up the top. There is a small repair to the rear right hand return moulding at the back. The rear of the top has been reattached at left and right and there are old filled holes to the right and left hand side as you will be able to see. The sides of the piece are in generally good order with only minor stress fractures to the timber. The bracket feet are original and in good condition. There is a break to the front right hand foot at the base. We have the detached piece. The backboards are original. There are some very minor traces of old long gone woodworm to the softwood carcass but these are minimal, long gone and in our opinion insignificant. The piece is structurally sound. The veneers are generally in good order.
A small 18th century oak gate leg table, oval, raised on turned legs with stretchers. Width 80.5 cm, length open 85 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 67 cm. The top is flat and not warped. It is generally a good colour and in good condition. There are numerous old scuffs and marks and various nail and peg holes to the top surface indicating very old repairs and fixings to the base. There is also an old stress fracture running across the top from left to right for approximately 56cm. This is an old crack with old filler probably caused by a peg fixing. The hinges are old but not original. There are other marks to the underside of each flap. The legs and stretchers appear to be original. The table top is held in place by a modern L shaped bracket to one side. There are also some replacement blocks to the underside of the top. The short turned feet are all a little worn and have traces of old woodworm. They do however appear to be original.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany bureau bookcase, with moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the base with slope front above two short and three long graduated drawers with brass swans neck drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 108 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Very good condition. No repairs, no restoration and no splits. Handles original, drawer fronts in good order. No issues other than minor marks commensurate with the age.
A Georgian style burr walnut chest of drawers, with slide and three drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 62 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Depth 31 cm, height 71 cm, width 62 cm. This chest of drawers is in first class condition with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. It could be used or re-sold in its current state without the need for any work.
A Georgian oak dresser with Delft rack, the base fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards being crossbanded and all raised on ogee moulded bracket feet. Width 152 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dresser is in generally good condition. The cornice is all present with some minor losses to the left hand corner and cracks and nail holes to the left hand return. All shelves and backboards are original and in good condition. The top of the base is in good order. The top left hand drawer front has a loss to the top left hand corner and small old repairs and scratches. The centre drawer has a loss to the top left hand edge and corner. The right hand drawer has only minor nibbles to the drawer front. Both cupboard doors are in good order and not warped. The centre drawer has a loss to the top left hand corner. The bottom drawer has a loss to the top left hand corner. All feet are original and in generally good condition. The piece is structurally sound. The brass drop handles are later but to a large extent cover old existing holes. The backboards are original.
A 19th century oak dresser base, fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards and raised on bracket feet. Width 154 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition and good colour. No significant issues, handles later replacements but clearly old and over original holes. No significant splits or damage.

CONDITION REPORT: Structurally in generally good condition. Old stress splits to sides. Handles original and all feet and back boards original. Minor repair above first long drawer lock plate and between the top two drawers.

A George III mahogany bowfronted chest of drawers, with crossbanded and boxwood strung edge above four long graduated drawers with brass drop handles, oval backplates, cockbeading and boxwood stringing to each drawer front, shaped apron and raised on splayed bracket feet. Width 98 cm. CONDITION REPORT: : Generally good condition. There are minor losses to the veneer on the back edge. There is a small rectangular patch to the cross banding to the left and right hand top corners. There is a 3cm section of box wood stringing missing from the top left corner. There are minor nibbles to the veneers at the front edge but are insignificant. Sides are in generally good condition. All drawer fronts are in good order with no losses to the cop beading. Door 2 has a veneer patch bottom left hand corner. There are slight nibbles to the veneers around the drawer runners. There is a repair above the lock on the runner to drawers 3 & 4. The bracket feet are original and in good order. The handles if not original go through the original holes.
A 19th century mahogany gentleman's wardrobe, with detachable moulded cornice above a pair of panelled cupboard doors opening to hanging space, the base fitted with four long graduated drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 125 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This piece requires restoration. The cornice is in generally good order. Both doors have warped oval centre panels which have both sprung. The polish is generally crazed. The interior to the upper half is missing. There is now a hole. The sides of the cabinet are in generally good condition with no splits. The drawers have some cock beading problems and are stiff in the runners. The handles if not original go through the original holes. The bracket feet are in poor condition and generally loose. The backboards are original.
A George III mahogany serpentine fronted side cabinet, with single drawer above a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing shelves and raised on ogee bracket feet. Width 109 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is one internal shelf which does lift out. Depth of shelf at deepest point 18 ins, depth at shallowest point 15.5 ins, width of shelf at narrowest point 35.5 ins, widest point 36.5 ins. The top is flat and of generally good colour. There are some minor marks, scratches and old stress fractures but no losses. The front right hand corner edge moulding has had breaks which have been well repaired. There is a small repair to the rear left hand edge moulding and a small veneer repair to the top in the same place. The drawer front is in generally good condition. There have been several sets of handles. The current handles cover the majority of the handle holes but there is another one visible to the left and right of the respective handles. There is a cock beading repair around the lock plate on the top edge. The drawer lining is in good condition. The door fronts are not warped. They meet correctly in the centre. There are some minor nibbles to the veneers around the extremities but no significant issues. The front bracket feet have had some repair. They are however structurally very sound. The repairs are effective and only visible on close inspection. The serpentine bottom edge moulding is a little nibbled to the edge. The backboards are original. There is a veneer repair to the right hand side of the top drawer which should be visible on our image. The sides of the cabinet are in good order with no splits. The cabinet looks to have been fairly recently waxed and is generally well presented.
A George III mahogany chest of drawers, with three drawers with brass drop handles with oval pavilion backplates and cockbeading to each drawer front and raised on bracket feet. Width 60 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top is crossbanded. It has veneer loss to the rear left hand corner and the front left hand corner. The top surface is also scratched in places but not too significantly. There is a small veneer repair to the front right hand corner of the top approximately 1.5 cm square. The sides of the chest are in good condition with no cracks. The frieze beneath the crossbanded front edge has a veneer repair to the bottom left hand corner. All drawer fronts are in reasonably good condition. The two top drawers have no losses to the cockbeading. The bottom drawer has a small loss to the bottom right hand corner. All drawer fronts are a little marked and scratched. The bracket feet are original and in generally good condition with only minor scuffs. The handles are not original and cover old knob handle holes. All locks are present but we have no keys. The backboards are original.
A George III style mahogany kneehole desk, crossbanded and fitted with a series of drawers and recessed cupboard, all raised on bracket feet. Width 91 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Very good condition with no issues other than a small loss to the moulded edge at the right hand side bottom of the kneehole recess.
A Regency mahogany cheval mirror, the rectangular mirror set between turned columns and raised on downswept legs with brass castors. Height 170 cm, width 69 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The mirror frame is in generally good condition and is structurally sound. There has been one old repair to the front right hand leg. There is evidence of a covered peg just below the top of the leg and a visible crack to the upright behind the leg. There is no movement here and the repair is secure. There is a further peg at the bottom of the rectangular block just above the same leg. All castors are original and not loose. The rear panel of the mirror is in good order. The adjusting knobs on the right appear to be period. They do however seem to have been moved slightly. There is evidence of a single further hole just above the top of each bracket. There is also a small drill hole to the turned section immediately above the handle block. It may simply be that the mirror has had candle sconces which have been removed. It is difficult to tell.

Width 100 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition. The top is Georgian. The doors are not warped. The glass is in good condition. The base which is 20th century is also in good condition with no issues.

A George III mahogany bureau, with slope front to fitted interior above a series of drawers and raised on bracket feet. Width 101.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally tired. There is damage around the lock plate where the bureau has been forced. The top has an old loss to the rear right hand corner and a further loss to the back edge approx 2 cm in length. The flap is a good colour and not warped. The interior is tatty. There is no writing surface. The interior pigeonholes have some damage to the dividers. All drawers are present. One drawer handle is missing. The frieze drawers all have cockbeading problems. There is one handle missing. The sides of the piece are in reasonable condition. The bracket feet are original but scuffed and marked. There is a break to the bottom front edge of the left hand foot. The back boards are original, the bureau is structurally sound.
An antique oak chest of drawers, four drawers with cushioned fronts and with brass drop handles and all raised on bracket feet. Width 90 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 92 cm, depth 59 cm, width 90 cm. The top is not warped it does however have some traces of old filled repairs which hopefully will be visible on our image. These are on the left hand side, the right hand front edge back centre left and centre right. There are numerous small marks and scuffs to the top but no serious issues. All drawer fronts are in reasonable condition with no significant losses. The handles are likely to be replacements but there are no extra handle holes. The lock escutcheons are original. Both locks are present but we have no keys. The sides of the piece are in generally good condition. The backboards appear to be original. The bracket feet are not original. The two front pegs are present. The rear ones are missing. The bottom boards appear to be original. The bracket feet are clearly old and there is evidence of old long gone woodworm in the softwood. The drawer runners have been replaced. The top right hand drawer has a pine baton to the right hand side.
An early 18th century wing easy chair, raised on front cabriole legs and rear chamfered angled legs. Width across arms 53 cm, height to top of back 116 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This is probably a provincial chair in that the rear legs are not mahogany but some form of softer wood. Both rear legs have old splices and old repairs. The front legs appear to be in good order. One block is missing. They are structurally sound. Having looked underneath there is a metal corner bracket to both sides. The front rail looks however to be original. The rear legs are serviceable but inspection reveals the numerous repairs already mentioned.
A 19th century oak and mahogany banded longcase clock, with painted dial and thirty hour movement, the case with quarter column corners and raised on bracket feet. Height 228 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. There are no major splits or losses. The door is not warped. The hood is a little dirty. We have a weight but no pendulum. The seat board is original. As are the back boards.
A George III and later ebonised bracket clock, with two-train fusee movement striking on a bell. Height excluding carrying handle 37.5 cm, width 28.75 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock is in generally extremely good condition. It is ticking away and striking as it should. The movement winds on both trains. The case is in generally very good order with no significant condition issues. The front door is not warped. All of the metalwork is present and in generally good condition. The feet have lost much of their original lacquered finish as have the flat sections to the caddy top. The dial is in generally good order. The hour hand is missing its tip. We have a key and the brass pendulum retainer is present.
