George III inlaid oak-cased eight-day brass dial longcase clock, 'Donisthorpe' (probably Joseph Donisthorpe of Normanton), the 12-inch break-arched dial having a brass chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing a matted centre with circular boss inscribed 'Donisthorpe' over silvered calendar crescent, within scroll spandrels, the arch with Bacchus mask between sea serpents, the case with dentil-carved swan neck pediment, brass discs and ball and spire finial over fluted columns with brass capitals, star-inlaid and crossbanded long trunk door between fluted quadrants on a plain base with wavy apron and integral bracket feet, 222cm high Condition: Dial with light tarnishing to chapter ring and to silvered calendar crescent, minor losses to blacking of numerals, calendar functions when hands are moved. Movement appears sound though maybe of slightly later date. No packing beneath seat board. Case - minor veneer cracking to hood frame, plus a few minor knocks to moulding above base. Slight age warping otherwise sound - **General condition consistent with age

Good quality 19th Century inlaid mahogany linen press, the upper section with swan-neck pediment over satinwood-crossbanded doors, each centred by a large marquetry urn issuing flowers in the manner of Edwards & Roberts, enclosing five oak-lined tray shelves, the lower section of three graduated satinwood-crossbanded drawers with brass oval back plate bale handles on ogee bracket feet, 130cm x 54cm x 222cm high Condition: Light external wear including minor knock to left door and very tight veneer cracking to satinwood crossbanding plus knocks to ogee bracket feet, dark mark to right hand short drawer and a couple of small veneer losses to drawer dividers, otherwise sound - **General condition consistent with age

17th Century and later ebonised bracket or table clock, the unsigned 6-inch square brass dial with silvered chapter ring having Roman hours, Arabic minutes and half hour divisions with inner quarter hour and minute tracks framing a matted centre with aperture beneath XII, angel mask spandrels, later wire-driven twin-fusee movement with anchor escapement, the case with pierced gilt metal basket top and acorn finials, 36cm high including handle Condition: Dial - tarnishing to chapter ring. The matted centre has an aperture at 12 instead of 6 so is probably the wrong way up. Movement would have previously been verge and crownwheel, now with late 18th/19th Century twin fusee movement. Case has some rubbing to high points of gilding of basket surmount, patching to one rear corner of top, missing rear door escutcheon and some rubbing to outer rear door edge. Marks to front door beneath escutcheon (which is the wrong way up). General wrinkling and cracking to ebonising, feet are of a later date. Overall a restoration project or for parts, and sold as seen - **General condition consistent with age

19th Century Colonial hardwood cabinet, probably Indo-Portuguese, the rectangular top with stepped ovolu-moulded edge over four banks of six drawers, each with carved rope-twist border and pierced lobed circular back plate ring handle, on bracket feet, 76cm x 42.5cm x 100cm high Condition: Horizontal crack across top around 3 inches from back edge, general light scratching and wear to top commensurate with age and use, some variation in colour of drawer fronts particularly one drawer but no further evidence of replacement, some vertical cracking to side panels. Small loss to tip of left front bracket foot plus a section of rear right bracket foot missing meaning that the cabinet does not currently sit level - **General condition consistent with age

Fine 19th Century 'Black Forest' inlaid walnut musical cuckoo bracket or table clock, circa 1879, retailed by Camerer, Cuss & Co, London, the 6.25-inch Gothic chapter ring with bone numerals and hands, wire-driven twin-fusee movement striking on a coiled gong, bellows-operated cuckoo and musical box to base with 6.25-inch barrel and complete comb playing six airs, the backboard with hand written detail to printed card, inscribed S30.6.79 in a 19th Century hand, printed label of Camerer, Cuss & Co dated 11.36 and 12.43 with additional label to exterior, the case with ebonised eagle surmount over twin-door cuckoo aperture between finials, the architectural case with breakfront corners and carved scroll work over inlaid stepped base, 61.5cm high Condition: Dial has minor staining to numerals and hands, movement currently ticks and cuckoo functions but extensively tested and sold as seen, one pair of bellows has been replaced. Musical mechanism has a complete combe but extensively tested and sold as seen. Case has a later dowel peg to rear of eagle surmount, one finial is detached but present, minor wear to lower stage of ebonised base including rubbing to front edge and slight crack to rear ogee bracket foot, but overall very nice condition and private provenance - **General condition consistent with age

Note: Henry Simcock is recorded working in Daventry (also known as Daintree) circa 1714. See Baillie (GH) Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, p.292. 36 x 26.50cm (14 x 10in) ConditionLooks to have been repolished / cleaned. With later wall bracket. Seatboard nailed to supporting blocks. Repeating work/train may be a 20th century replacement or addition. Appears fully wound. Currently ticking but not tested for any duration. I suspect refurbished 20 or 30 years ago when purchased. Has a crank wind key and case key. See photos.

Several clocks of similar design have appeared on the market in recent years. converted from verge to anchor escapement.Conditionconverted from verge to anchor escapement.  Later retaining brackets for movement backplate into case.  Currently ticking but not striking/chiming.
