An 18thC oak dresser with plate rack, having moulded cornice, boarded back and three channelled shelves to the top, the base having three frieze drawers over three centre doors flanked by two double fielded moulded panel doors, with ebony escutcheons, brass swan neck handles with solid back plates, and knob handles to the doors, on bracket feet, 211cm H, 184cm W, 50cm D.
Early 19th Century figured mahogany cased longcase clock by John Smith of Chester, the 32 cm wide dial with gilt brass spandrels and silvered chapter ring, the eight day three train movement striking the hours and quarters on nine bells, with calendar and seconds aperture and moon phase to arch, contained in case with scrolled cresting, the trunk with quartered and fluted column, shaped door on ogee bracket feet, 230cm high, good overall condition, recently overhauled, however whilst the 'musical' side of the mechanism appears to lose power when striking and will need attentionNote: seatboard appears a replacement, thus it is impossible to tell if the movement and case are a marriage or not
From the 'House of the Dead'James Joyce's Timpiece[Joyce (James)] A George III period Grandfather Clock, the mahogany body with break neck pediment, and blind fretwork, over a glazed door, enclosing a painted dial signed May of Dublin, the shaped panel door with crossbanding flanked by reeded columns on a square base with bracket feet, approx. 236cms (93") high; together with a red brick block, taken during the restoration at 15 Ushers Island. (1)Provenance: No. 15 Ushers Island (House of the Dead) home of James Joyce's aunts, and by descent. The House surrounding the short story "The Dead" from the Dubliners, by descent to the present vendor.

An extremely rare late 17th Century Bracket clock maker Joseph Williamson with an unusual Chinoiserie decorated case with a basket top and scroll handle with traces of gilt. With a silvered chapter ring. With original verge striking movement, the Quarter repeat mechanism missing. Possibly some minor later alterations. Size of case 37cmx28cm.
