Later strengthening board to the back of the chest to support the hinged top. A section of the apron moulding is missing. Scuffs/wear to the edge of the apron moulding. Cracks to the right bracket feet which may correspond with old repairs. Age cracks to the rear left stile foot. Overall dark patina with old marks and scratches consistent with age. Most have areas of chipping or surface wear as is to be expected with older plaster. A GEORGE III MAHOGANY MAHOGANY CLOTHES PRESS IN THE MANNER OF CHIPPENDALE, CIRCA 1765The dentilled broken pediment centred by a carved Ho-Ho bird cresting, above a pair of doors enclosing five sliding trays, below are three long graduated drawers, on shaped bracket feet267cm high, 137cm wide, 59cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old splits and chips. Later blocks to backs of feet. Lock and escutcheons to doors are later replacements. All other metalware appears original. No key present, all locks are open.Some losses to dentil moulding of cornice. Some sections of replacement veneer and moulding (see images). The Ho-ho bird cresting with repaired crack through one wing and glue residue visible where the other wing meets the body. All sliding tray present. Of cleaned/polished appearance.
