The flame surmounted pagoda top above an arched brass dial, having silvered Roman numeral chapter ring and fast/slow dial - all raised on paw feet - Height 55 cm - appears to be in working order
An art deco style 1940's oak Bureau Book Case, having moulded top with carved frieze. 14 pane leaded glazed door revealing two shelves. The fall with automatic lopers revealing various stationary compartments, over three lower moulded front graduated drawers. Iron drop handles, on bracket feet. 25'' wide x 66'' high x 16 1/2'' deep.
A George III mahogany and brass inlaid repeater bracket clock, with bracket, late 18th century, by Thomas Wright, London, the silvered dial bearing Roman numerals, subsidiary strike silent, twin fusee movement with quarter striking on five bells, the case with domed arch, brass stringing and reticulated sound frets, raised on a plinth base and brass, bun feet, 33 by 22 by 47cm.
A 19th century brass and glass wall mounted oil lamp, the Gothic style bracket with rope twist column and C-scroll arm with cherubic decoration terminating in a circular pierced bowl housing a glass reservoir, clear glass flue and frosted wheel etched spherical shade CONDITION REPORTS General wear and scuffs. Chips and frits to lower edge / rim of shade, and some roughness to the top edge. Chimney with general wear but appears OK. Bowl with wear and some old chips to edges. Metal top cover section with some rusting and a hole to top, and some rusting and denting. Brass sections have some wear and rubbing, and some knocks, and some looseness to the joints, but otherwise appear OK.
An Arts & Crafts Newlyn School copper wall mounted candle holder by John Pearson, the shaped back with central oval embossed with stylised foliage flanked by embossed kernels, foliage and pomegranates on a hammered ground to a shaped canted rectangular base with embossed ovals to the borders, the applied bracket initialled "J P 1890", 32 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Wear and scuffs, some knocks and dents. Some slight misshaping to back. Front relief decoration has been polished. Back bears some handwritten inscriptions in black "R235" "C II/s".
A Victorian ebonised cased and gilt metal mounted mantle clock in the 18th Century manner, the arched case flanked by pineapple finials over a glazed door flanked by Corinthian capitals on bracket feet, the eight day three train movement striking on eight bells, the arched dial with silvered chapter ring and Arabic and Roman numerals surmounted by chime silent dial and Cambridge chimes/chime dial, 47 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Case - dirty with spots and scuffs particularly around the base. Front door has split to bottom edge and hole to right hand edge - see photos for detail. String pull works but hammer missing the gong. Silvered chapter ring worn. Metal work tarnished. Inner rear door with scuffs to edges. Rear door with replacement splint and scuffing - with two keys SEE PHOTOS
A late 18th century oak and mahogany banded cased long case clock, the broken arch pediment above a glazed panelled door flanked by turned tapering pillars over a shaped door flanked by quarter cut fluted side pilasters on a base with canted corners on bracket feet, the square brass dial with Roman and Arabic numerals within applied gilt metal spandrels, the centre with bird engraved decoration, to an eight day striking movement, subsidiary seconds and date dials, inscribed "Gillett & Healy, Manchester", 214 cm high
An oak cased long case clock, the hood with moulded cornice, fretwork frieze and glazed door flanked by turned pilasters over an arched trunk door to a flat fronted base on bracket feet, the square brass dial with silvered chapter ring and Roman numerals bearing subsidiary tune selector dial inscribed "Th Geo March *Br: St: Home * f: every Glas" within applied mask head and scrolling spandrels, the centre with tulip and foliate engraved decoration, the brass plate inscribed "Edward Webb of Chew Stoke" with thirty hour musical movement striking on eight bells, 207 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Case with wear, chips and losses. Cracks and splits to case. Plinth and legs are later replacements. Various screwed and/or glued repairs. Some losses to mouldings.
A walnut and oak chest in the early 18th century manner, the quartered top cross banded and with moulded edge top over four short drawers centred by a cupboard over three long drawers within fluted canted corners on bracket feet, 80 cm wide x 42 cm deep x 101 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Wear and scuffs. Quite a few cracks and chips to carcass and veneers, including to top, sides, and drawers. Various patches and coloured-in areas to veneers. Some splits to carcass which have caused veneers to crack. Handles have 'shadows' beneath them of a different shape, so handles possibly altered.
An 18th century mulberry wood veneered and oak chest on chest, the upper section with moulded cornice above two short and three long graduated drawers on a base of two further long drawers to bracket feet, 102 cm wide x 59 cm deep x 140 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear and scuffs. Various alterations and later replacement sections including mouldings, - for example to top of edge of lower section, and top front edge of top section. Various splits, repairs, losses and chips, including patched in repairs to veneers. Splits and separating at joins and to mouldings. Some losses to handles and brass escutcheons. Escutcheons and handles are of various styles and all may be later replacements and/or re-fixed.
A George III mahogany bachelor chest, the figured top with moulded edge over a brushing slide and four graduated cock-beaded drawers with pressed drop handles on bracket feet, 91.5 cm wide x 52.5 cm deep x 80 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Wear, scuffs and scratches. Some chips to the edges of the drawers and carcass. Some drying cracks to veneers. The chest appears to have been completely revarnished, and has had some repairs and restoration, and replacement mouldings, including a repaired split to the plinth, drawers reglued, replacement mouldings (please see photos for examples) Some small splits. Handles probably later as there are plugged holes to the interior of the drawers.
A circa 1900 painted mahogany bureau in the Sheraton Revival taste, the top with scrolling foliate decoration above a sloping fall decorated with Aphrodite and Eros enclosing a fitted interior of drawers and pigeon holes over four floral swag decorated drawers with brass swan neck handles to bracket feet, 68 cm wide x 97 cm high
A late George III figured mahogany chest on chest, cornice over two short over three long drawers with cast brass handles, canted corners, over a secretaire fitted bureau drawer, inlaid with oval stringing to the drawer front, and two further deeper drawers, all raised on bracket feet, 55 by 107 by 186cm high. Provenance: The Estate of David Powell MBE.
B C Stenlake, Tavistock, a 19th century inlaid mahogany long case clock, the arched hood with gilt ball finials, spiral-twist columns and waist-panelled door, on plinth and bracket feet, the 14" arched, painted dial with second subsidiary and Adam and Eve automaton in the arch, the 8-day twin-train movement with anchor escapement, striking on a bell, 234cm high.
Robert Newman, Camberwell, a George III mahogany long case clock, the arched hood with brass finials and stop-fluted columns above an arched waist-panelled door on plinth base and bracket feet, the 12" dial with calendar and second subsidiary dials and strike/silent in the arch, the 8-day movement with circular escapement striking on a bell, 221cm high.
