A Regency well figured mahogany and brass mounted bracket clock by Robert Bunyan Lincoln, with twin fusee movement striking on a bell and with anchor escapement, the brass carrying handle to the top with tortoiseshell beneath. Height excluding handle 39 cm, width 28.5 cm, depth 20 cm (see illustration).
A Georgian mahogany bracket clock by John Kirkwood Redpath, with two train chain driven fusee movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell, the brass dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary Arabic numerals. Height excluding brass carrying handle 44 cm, width 29 cm, depth 19.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. There are some minor surface marks and scratches but no serious problems. There has been some very old damage to the front right hand bottom corner of the door. This is not problematic. There are other minor stress fractures but the colour is generally good. We have the key and pendulum. The clock is not currently operating as the fusee chain to the going train is detached from the main barrel so some attention is required. If weight is applied to the going train the movement does tick. The movement appears to have had some work in recent times and is very clean but does require further work to get it properly running.
A 1920's mahogany bracket clock of 18th century design by Junghans, the 14 cm dial with silvered chapter ring and spandrels to the eight day three train B08 movement, striking with Westminster chime on nine gongs, contained in case with arched top and turned columns to front, keys and pendulum for same (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in working order. The case is in good overall condition apart from minor surface wear and slight damage to the fabric panel t the back door. Internally it is possible that the mechanism has been seated on a new seat board and the rear gong altered in its position.
An early 20th century figured walnut cased bracket clock by Elliott London, No. 19278 and retailed by Dimmer Southsea, the dial with silvered chapter ring to the three train movement striking with Westminster or Whittington chimes. 35 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on the centre and right hand facing trains. The left hand train is fully wound. The clock is ticking away. It appears to strike correctly when advanced. The face is in generally good condition with minor rubbing to the silvering on the dial. The case itself is in very good order with no issues. We do not have the winding key. The clock retains purchase label from The Barometer Shop with retail price of £2250.
A 19th century inlaid mahogany oval dressing table mirror, the base fitted with three drawers and raised on short bracket feet. Height 63 cm, width 42 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The mirror is in generally good order. The oval frame has no condition issues. The shaped supports are structurally sound. The mirror swings as it should, the mechanism operating correctly. The base is in very good order with only very minor blemishes. All drawers run smoothly. The lock and key are present. A 19th century French gilt bronze bracket clock, with two train striking movement and Pompadour pink porcelain panels. Clock height 37 cm, width 19 cm, raised on a wooded plinth and complete with key and pendulum (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Other than being a little dusty the clock case is in very good condition. The gilding is good throughout with no significant loss. The porcelain panels are not cracked. The movement is fully wound on the left hand facing train. It does wind on the right hand train. The movement is running but does seem to stop after a minute or so. When the hands are advanced it is not striking. The pendulum and key are both present as is the bell. The porcelain dial is in generally good condition with only very minor rubbing to the gilding. There is a small surface chip to the right of the numeral 3. This is a surface chip and the pieces have been reglued but there is some minor loss. This should be visible on our image. It is a minor issue. The wooded base is in generally good order with only minor rubbing to the gilding. The rope twist braiding is loose.
An 18th century oak cased longcase clock by Savage of Clifton, the 26 cm brass dial with chapter ring, spandrels and calendar aperture to the 30 hour movement striking on a bell. Contained in case with turned pillars to hood and shaped trunk door. 214 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: We have the pendulum and weight. The movement appears to be ticking away and striking when advanced. The movement is a little dirty but as stated seemingly operational. The case itself is in generally good condition also. There are no issues with the hood or glass. The trunk door closes as it should and is not warped. The sides of the trunk are in generally good order. The left hand side rear does have some traces of old woodworm which appears in our opinion to be long gone. The base of the case is probably later to the main case but is in good order and in keeping. There is a stress fracture along the join of the two front planks. The bracket feet are in generally good order with only minor surface scuffs.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by Thomas Dodd Chester, with verre eglomise between the swans neck pediment and with glazed door enclosing the 13 1/4" square arched dial with moon phase and eight day striking movement by Thomas Dodd Chester, the case with long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners, the base with canted angles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 253 cm, maximum width 54 cm (see illustration).
A George III mahogany linen press, with detachable moulded cornice above a pair of panelled doors opening to hanging space, the base now with two dummy and one long drawer with brass drop handles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 202 cm, width 130 cm, depth 60 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The press comes into three parts. The cornice detaches. The base separates from the top in the usual manner.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by Thomas Thompson Liverpool, with eight day striking movement with moon phase, dial width 13 1/4", the case with long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners with well figured panel base raised on ogee moulded bracket feet. Height 235 cm, hood width 56.5 cm(see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking as it should. It seems to be keeping good time. The moon phase appears to be working as does the date. The case is in generally good condition. There are some cracks to the verre eglomise in the swans neck. The hood door is not warped. There are some nibbles to the edge of the hood door and to the side panel at the front but again this is not problematic. The rear of the hood side panel has a loose slither of timber but we have piece. The main trunk door is not significantly warped and locks as it should. There are some veneer stress fractures as one would expect but no real issues with the door. The sides of the trunk are in good order. The base is in generally good condition also. The base panel is slightly sprung at the bottom left hand corner. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The height excluding the central finial is 230 cm.
A George III oak chest of drawers, the top with angled moulding, fitted two short and three long drawers with later escutcheons and handles, 82 cm high, 96 cm wide, 52 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The chest of drawers is structurally sound. The top has a full width stress fracture which has been filled. There is however no movement. There is a small old repair to the very rear of the top. There are some losses to the polished surface finish. The moulded edge is in good condition all around. Both sides have shrinkage gaps between the side planks but no movement. The backboards are original. The drawer fronts are in generally good order. The handles are probably not original but appear to go through the original handle holes. The two handles on the top long drawer have bits of brass missing. The lock escutcheon on the lower drawer is loose and swivels. The bracket feet are sound and secure and have only the usual surface and edge nibbles that one would expect. There is no evidence of any woodworm
A George III oak chest of drawers, with replacement brass swan neck handles on bracket feet. 97 cm high, 100 cm wide, 54 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The chest is structurally sound and in generally very good order. The top is manufactured from two planks, there is a shrinkage gap between them. The moulded edge is in good order all around. There are shrinkage gaps between the side planks. The handles are later replacements and other handle holes are visible. All drawer fronts are in generally good order with only minor surface marks and scuffs and the majority of the cockbeading is present. The original bracket feet are in good order. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
A 1920's figured mahogany serpentine fronted break-fronted bookcase, the upper part fitted two adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of astragal glazed doors, two drawers and cupboard under on bracket feet. 215 cm high x 105 cm wide x 48 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: There is some veneer loss to one of the doors and minor damage to moulding around the edges of drawers.
A late 18th century oak chest of drawers, with moulded edge above two short and three long graduated drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Height 90 cm, width 95 cm, depth 51 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest is structurally sound. The top is flat with no significant problems. There are the odd old ring mark stain and minor scratches but no serious issues. The moulded edge is in good condition all around. Both side panels are in good order. The drawer fronts are all in good condition and there is no missing cockbeading. All locks are present, we have no keys. The handles appear to be original. The bracket feet are all original also, as are the backboards. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
An early 19th century oak chest of drawers, with moulded edge above three long graduated drawers with wooden knob handles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 81 cm, width 99 cm, depth 49 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest Is structurally sound. The top whilst flat has significant water damage. Much of the original polish is no longer present. The moulded edge is in good order all round. The right-hand side has a full height stress fracture to the rear of the panel. The left-hand side is in good order. The drawer fronts are all a little dry. They are however in generally good order. All cockbeading is present. One knob handle is detached. The front bracket feet are in good condition. The rear right-hand bracket foot is partially detached and broken into two pieces. We have the pieces. They are in the drawer. There are some minor traces of old woodworm in the backboards but seems to be long gone.
A George III chinoiserie lacquered longcase clock, with two train striking movement by John Page Ipswich, the painted case with long trunk door, the base raised on bracket feet. Height 208 cm, width 47.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. It strikes when advanced. It appears to be ticking away as it should. The date does not appear to be advancing. The case is in generally good condition. The doors are not warped. There are some minor nibbles and losses to the paintwork and gesso particularly on the front right hand hood pillar. As you will see from our image there is some lifting to the lacquer on the trunk door and some small areas of missing paint, evidenced by the blue ground beneath. There are no splits to the trunk. The base has all of the usual typical scuffs and marks one would expect form an item of this age.
A Regency mahogany secretaire chest of drawers, with moulded edge above a fitted secretaire drawer with three further graduated drawers beneath all raised on bracket feet. Height 110 cm, width 108.5 cm, depth 54.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Whilst a good quality chest this does require work. There are losses to the veneers to the rear corners of the top and at the centre back. The same comments apply to the left-hand corner. The crossbanded moulded edge is completely missing on the right-hand side and there are losses to the front and left-hand return. The secretaire drawer has veneer losses to the centre beneath the lock escutcheon which is missing. The drawer front is otherwise in good order. The interior baize is very old and dirty. There is some damage to the fitted interior and a centre cupboard door is missing. The sides of the chest are in basically good condition with minor stress fractures. The three long drawers are in generally good order with minor losses to the cockbeading. The front bracket feet are original as are the rear. Both the right-hand front and rear feet are detached. There is some evidence of woodworm in the soft wood that forms the rear feet supports and other minor traces elsewhere on the bottom of the carcass.
A George III mahogany longcase clock, with swans neck pediment above the arched brass dial and two train striking movement with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the case with long trunk door, quarter column corners and conforming base raised on bracket feet. Height 236 cm including finial. CONDITION REPORT: Whilst we have the pendulum and weights we have not attempted to have the movement running. The metal suspension at the top of the pendulum is missing. The movement is dirty but appears to be complete. The brass dial is a little warped from top to bottom and the spandrels are all a little loose but all present. The silvering is very tired and mostly missing. The hood is principally complete but some of the moulding between the swans necks is loose. There are some stress fractures to the veneers also. The hood door is not warped and closes as it should. The hood glass is cracked. There are some pieces of dentil work missing beneath the hood. The same comments apply to the blind fretwork around the frieze. The door is not warped. There is a small loss to the top left hand corner. The door is currently locked, we do not have the key. The sides of the case are in good condition. The plinth is also in generally good order. The plinth side panels have shrinkage gaps between the panels. The feet are all in good condition. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
A George III oak dresser with Delft rack, with moulded cornice and shaped apron above a series of white painted shelves flanked by pilasters. The base fitted with a series of drawers and cupboards with brass handles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 206 cm, width 191 cm, depth 53 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dresser and rack are both in extremely good order. The cornice is in good condition all round. The dresser base top is in very good condition and of good colour. There are some old ring marks but no serious issues. The sides of the base are panelled and in very good condition. All drawer and door fronts are in good order. The handles if not original go through the original handle holes. The bracket feet are all original and in good order. The backboards are all original also. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. This dresser was purchased in our saleroom approximately 15 years ago for £3600.
An early 19th century mahogany crossbanded chest of drawers, with two short over three long drawers with brass drop handles with lion mask backplates and raised on bracket feet. Height 103 cm, width 109 cm, depth 52.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest is structurally sound. The top is flat with no significant splits only minor stress fractures to the veneers. There are nibbles to the crossbanded edge particularly to the left and right rear corners. There have been small repairs to the front corners. The top has some old scratches, ring marks and watermarks. The right hand side has stress fractures to the mahogany. These are open but there is no movement. The left hand side similarly has stress fractures. The crossbanded frieze is in good order. All drawer fronts are in generally good condition with no losses to the cockbeading on any of the drawers other than the bottom one where a section is missing in the centre on the bottom edge. All locks are present bar one. We have no keys. The handles are not original but cover the original handle holes. The bracket feet are present. The backboards are original. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
