A late 18th/early 19th Century oak longcase clock by William Tailor of Dumfries, the 13ins arched painted dial with Arabic numerals and with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar dial, the arch painted with an oval vignette depicting a landscape and spandrels with roses, to the eight day two train movement striking on a bell, contained in oak case with moulded scroll pediment and turned and fluted pillars to hood, shaped trunk door flanked by fluted quarter columns, the base with raised astragal panel and on bracket feet, 90ins high (including later finial) Note: William Tailor recorded working Dumfries 1787-1823
A late 18th Century mahogany longcase clock by Chambley of W-Hampton, the 14ins arched painted dial with Arabic numerals and with subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, the arch showing phases of the moon, the spandrels decorated with young women representing the Four Seasons, to the eight day two train movement striking on a bell, contained in figured mahogany case, inlaid with stringings, the moulded scroll pediment with gilt brass circular paterae and slender turned and fluted pillars to hood, the Gothic pattern trunk door flanked by reeded columns and the base with canted corners, on bracket feet, 93ins high, (including later brass finial) Note: John Chambley recorded working in Wolverhampton 1780-1795
