Collingwood, London, the arched case with satinwood stringing surmounted by a square tapering pediment with brass ball finial, on melon-lobed brass feet, white dial with Roman numerals, brass arched "fish scale" panels to the sides, the double fusee movement striking on a bell, with pull repeat. 60cm. Britten in "Old Clocks & Watches and Their Makers" records Collingwood 1747-1816.
AN IMPORTANT PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY SERPENTINE CHESTS OF DRAWERS inlaid throughout with chequered stringing and with a brushing slide over four graduated drawers, apparently retaining the original brass swan-neck handles, flanked by canted angles, on shaped bracket feet, 104cm wide x 59cm deep x 85.5cm high. Provenance: Almost certainly supplied to The Rev. James Lushington of Rodmersham, Kent. Edmund Henry Lushington (born 1766) of Park House, Maidstone, Kent, whose eldest son, Edmund Law, married Cecilia, the sister of the poet, Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Thence by descent in the Lushington family.

The clock having a cream enamel face with Roman dial, double fusee 8 day movement striking to a bell, decorative carving to case raised on floral feet, approx 30 w x 42 h x 16 d cms. Note: pendulum suspension spring has snapped. Case has five heat cracks to the domed top (see image), screw missing to door hinge, horizontal crack to the case near the door catch (see image).
