* NITA BEGG (SCOTTISH 1920 -1999), A STILL LIFE OF FLOWERS oil on canvas, signed and dated 1988 25cm x 19cm Framed and under glass Note: Nita Begg enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art, in 1937 at the age of 16. She studied throughout the war as the School was forced to stay open by the Scottish Education Department. Graduating in 1943 she was awarded a place at Hospitalfield House which she took up in 1947 having completed her war service as a nurse. A professional artist for over 50 years, she specialised in oil creating a body of work amounting to over 400 paintings. Her paintings are in the private collection of Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Glasgow Museums and Art Galleries and private collections in New York, Australia and throughout the UK. MARTIN RSW RGI, RED SKIES, RED GATE oil on canvas, signed 36cm x 36cm Framed Note: Regarded by many as one of the finest still life and landscape painters working in Scotland today, David Martin's work is held in many major collections including The Arts Council of Scotland, The City of Edinburgh Art Collection, Perth Museum and Art Gallery, The Dick Institute, Kilmarnock, Robert Fleming and Company Ltd, Linklaters and Paine, Lord MacFarlane, The Earl of Moray, Credit Lyonnais Bank, Warburg Asset Management and the Clydesdale Bank. A major retrospective of his work was held at Perth Museum and Art Gallery in 1999.

Anne Saïd, British 1914-1995- Still life, fruit and skull; graphite, signed and dated 55, 25x37cm, (may be subject to Droit de Suite) Note: Painter and draughtsman. Born 19 August 1914 at Hook, Hampshire. Educated at Queen's College, London, 1925-30. Studied spasmodically with Ozenfant in Paris c. 1938-9 while designing textiles to pay for her art training. Worked in Egypt from 1941 to 1955, and taught there in conjunction with her husband Hamed Saïd, forming a group of students whose work was exhibited in Cairo in 1948 and 1955.
