Anatoli Nikolaevich Nikolsky (b. 1934) oil on canvas - Still life of spring flowers with daffodils and tulips, signed and dated 1956, 51 x 41cm, framedGenerally good original condition and in a presentable state. It has not been re-lined. There is a scratch to the paint on one of the leaves (see image) and some slight areas or crazing, however these are not to the detriment of the picture in our opinion. Provenance: a local private client.

E. gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Jagdmaler seiner Zeit. 1763 wurde er Mitglied der Society of Artists, 1773 der Royal Academy. 1788 ließ er sich in London nieder, wo nach seinem Tod der Großteil seines Oeuvres einem Brand zum Opfer fiel. OF-TR, auf dem Rückseitenschutz betitelt und dat. 1950, Adresstempel des Künstlers und Stempel des Nachlasses, unter Passepartout und Glas gerahmt, ungeöffnet. - Vielseitiger Maler und Graphiker, Innendekorateur und Glasmaler. F.-T. studierte an der Staatlichen Kunstgewerbeschule und an der Akademie Dresden u.a. bei R. Müller und O. Zwintscher. Er schuf gemeinsam mit M. Pechstein Dekorationen für Künstlerfeste. Außerdem war er Mitbegründer des Deutschen Werkbunds und Mitglied der Hamburgischen Sezession. Ab 1926 war er Professor in Leipzig bzw. Wiesbaden. Als langjähriger Mitarbeiter des Hamburger Oberbaudirektors F. Schumacher schuf F.-T. zahlreiche baugebundene Arbeiten. Mus.: Hamburg (Kunsthalle, Altonaer Mus.), Leipzig, Stade. F.T. studied at the Dresden art school and academy, among others under R. Müller a. O. Zwintscher. He cooperated with M. Pechstein in decorations for artist's parties. He was co-founder of the 'Deutscher Werkbund' and member of the Hamburg secession. Since 1926 he was professor in Leipzig a. Wiesbaden. As a longtime collaborator of the Hamburg construction director F. Schumacher F.-T. created many artworks adn interior designs. Mus.: Hamburg (Kunsthalle, Altonaer Mus.), Leipzig, Stade. Friedrich Heimerdinger (Altona 1817 - Hamburg 1882). Hand mit Kiebitzei. 1879. Öl/Karton, 22,5 x 22,5 cm, verso sign. und dat. F. Heimerdinger 1879 sowie bez. 'Eigenthum des Musentisches der Himmelsleiter Hamburg' sowie weitere Beschriftungen auf Vorder- und Rückseite, unter Glas gerahmt, ungeöffnet. - Die Beschriftungen richten sich an einen Lehrling der Malerei und zeigen mit dem trompe l'oeil der Holzwand, der Hand und dem Ei die Meisterschaft, die es zu erreichen gilt. Die 'Himmelsleiter' in Altona war über lange Zeit ein beliebter Treffpunkt von Künstlern und Literaten. - Deutscher Stilleben-, Tier- und Genremaler. H. studierte an der Düsseldorfer und der Münchner Akademie u.a. bei Th. Hildebrandt. Er war Begründer einer Malschule in München und Mitglied des Hamburger Künstler-Vereins. Mus.: Hamburg (Kunsthalle). Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Der Neue Rump u.a. Heimerdinger, Friedrich (Altona 1817 - Hamburg 1882). Hand with Lapwing's Egg. 1879. Heimerdinger 1879 as well as inscribed 'Eigenthum des Musentisches der Himmelsleiter Hamburg' and more inscriptions, framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - The inscriptions are addressed to an apprentice painter and show with the trompe l'oeil of the wooden wall, the hand and the egg the mastery to be achieved. - German still life, animal and genre painter. H. studied at the Düsseldorf and Munich academies under Th. Hildebrandt, among others. He was the founder of a painting school in Munich and a member of the Hamburg Künstler-Verein. Fievéz, Brüssel, 20.06.1928, Kat.-Nr. 1; zuletzt Privatsammlung Hamburg. - Der Notname 'Meester met de Poes' bezeichnet einen Meister, der im zweiten Viertel des 17. Jhs. in Flandern, möglicherweise aber auch in den Niederlanden tätig war. Seine Tafelstilleben zeigen typischerweise Käse, Butter, einen Früchtekorb, Vögel und die namensgebende Katze. Still Life with Kitten, Parrot and Cheese. Oil/canvas, 57 x 122 cm, some rest. - Literature: The painting is registered at the RKD in The Hague as work of the 'Meester met de Poes'. - Provenance: Auction house J. Fievéz, Brussels, 20.06.1928, lot no. 1; private collection Hamburg. - The invented name 'Meester met de Poes' refers to a master who was active in the second quarter of the 17th century in Flanders, but possibly also in the Netherlands. His table still lifes typically feature cheese, butter, a basket of fruit, birds and the eponymous cat. A lively and somewhat enigmatic accord of flowers by Max Theodor Strassenbach (1865-1936). Presents an explosive, life-affirming composition with spring flowers in a vase. They are framed by branches of velvety, fragrant lilacs and are inscribed in the semi-mystical twilight of the garden. In the contrasts of lilac and white, a half-light of symbolism is woven, a breath of heavenly and demonic. Lively, impressionistic style of painting - awakens the smells and aromas of the spring garden. Passion and vitality. A complex and masterful combination of styles distinguishes the work of the German master of flower still lifes - Max Strassenbach, in which the artistic synthetism of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was clearly manifested. Spanish School. 18th century. "Saint Rose of Lima" Oil on canvas. With its original carved wooden frame. 100 x 71 cm. Frame measurements: 117 x 89 cm. This painted was part of, and appeared published in the book of the exhibition: "Realidad, tiempo y artificio. Naturalezas muertas y Vanitas, en la cultura Barroca" (Reality, time and artifice. Still life and Vanitas in Baroque culture). The exhibition took place in the Casa del Cordón in Burgos from October 2021 to January 2022.
