Follower of Willem Kalf Still life of oysters, lemon, pomegranate, grapes and gold steeple cup with cover Oil on panel 58.5 x 43cm (23 x 16¾ in.) Condition Report: There are two vertical cracks running the length of the panel to the left half of the image. These cracks have been strengthened, visible verso. Light visible retouching in natural light along these cracks, recto. Some scattered areas of craquelure most notable to the upper 1/3 and at the centre of the lower edge where there is associated flaking and the paint surface is unstable, area circa. 10 x 4cm. There is a smaller area of flaking and unstable paint to the upper left corner. Rubbing to the framing edges. Light surface scratches and scuffs scattered across the image. § Duncan Grant (British 1885-1978) Still Life of Roses in a Blue Vasesigned 'D Grant' (lower right)watercolour29 x 23cmProvenance:With the Sims Gallery, St IvesCondition report: Not examined out of the frame. The sheet shows multiple creases throughout, particularly at the edges, and a small pin hole on the lower left hand edge. There are some passages of paint that show some very fine networks of cracks, particularly in the white rose, the pink rose and the blue vase, though there is no significant loss of paint. The white rose shows some abrasions to the surface, there are also a number of other small abrasions to the left of the red rose and above the foliage on the left hand side. Areas of the paper are not painted reveal that the surface is typically toned and discoloured.

Overall the paint layers are in good order, but there are a few areas, particularly in areas where the paint has been more thickly applied, a small number of drying cracks are present (see images). The canvas is in plane and the tension is good. Does not appear to have been relined.
Allan Walton (British 1891-1948) Still Life with Flowers on a Stooloil on canvas90 x 50cm Provenance:With Sally Hunter Fine Art Ltd., London Exhibited:London, London Artist's Association, 1926-1933Condition report: The frame with chips and knocks throughout. The canvas is in plane, but the tension is perhaps a little slack, and it is quite loose within the frame. The surface is a little dirty and there is some discolouration to the paler passages of paint. There are a number of very fine drying cracks in the more impasto areas, otherwise in good overall condition.

There is a light layer of dirt, consistent with age, across the surface of the paint. There is some flaking of the paint layer, which is accompanied by a fine network of cracks, across the bottom edge of the canvas. Elsewhere, the paint layers appear in generally good, stable condition.The reverse of the canvas quite dirty, but the paint layer appears stable and in good order.

There is a light layer of dirt across the surface, which is more prominent in the paler passages of paint. There is small and isolated area of flaked paint on the bottle and a negligible brown accretion on the right hand side of the bottle, but overall the paint layer is in good order.
§ Robert MacBryde (Scottish 1913-1966) Still life with fig and watermelonsigned 'Robert MacBryde' (lower right); numbered 1/25lithograph, unframed79.5 x 56.5cmCondition report: Surface toned and discoloured throughout, as pictured, this toning is not even throughout with deeper discolouration at the perimeters, and some paler areas including a vertical section approximately 11cm wide and running the length of the sheet from around 1cm from the right hand edge, there is a further more bleached section on the left hand side, of rectangular form and around 15cm long and 3cm wide. Along the right hand edge there is a small tear around half way up the edge, a further, small tear 21cm from the lower edge, and a very small tear to the top edge. The left hand corner has some dog ear creases and there is general staining throughout, this is mostly confined to the margins, though there are some marks on the main image. The reverse of the sheet shows multiple brown stains and marks.
§ Mike Healey (Scottish 1951-) Still life with a bowl of fuit and flowers on a table oil on board 69 x 90cmFootnote: One of Scotland’s leading contemporary colourists, Mike Healey has gained significant international recognition for his vibrant, painterly compositions and has been exhibited worldwide, including shows in London, New York, Philadelphia, Bermuda, Japan and in his native Scotland. Born in the Amazon region of Brazil in 1951, Healey received his early education in London before training under John Cunningham at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) between 1970 and 1974. Healey’s talents were recognised at the GSA, where he was awarded both the Haldane Drawing Prize and the Leverhulme Travelling Scholarship. Following his graduation, Healey joined the academic staff at the GSA where, in 1983, he was appointed as the head of Graphics, Illustration and Photography and later as the head of the Design and Applied Arts Department. Rendered in a luminous mosaic of candescent reds and electrifying blues, the present lot pays homage to Healey’s predecessors, whilst also situating his work firmly within the lineage of the Scottish colourists.
