An Encrusted Porcelain Still Life of a Basket of Flowers, Samuel Alcock & Co, circa 1850, the half round basket containing diverse flowers including pinks, pansies, narcissi, convolvulus and strawberries, against a lavender tinted square panel back, 25cm by 24cm, in a rosewood veneered deep glazed frame with gilded angled inner slip, 41.5cm by 43cm overall; and An Encrusted Posy of Flowers, possibly Royal Crown Derby, circa 1900, composed of diverse flowers, 7.5cm high, set on brown velvet in a glazed frame (2)
After Anne Redpath (1895-1965) "Still Life Fruit and Flowers” Signed artist's proof, also bearing a blindstamp, limited edition 62/75, coloured lithograph, 34.5cm by 51.5cm (13 3/4in by 20 1/4in) Provenance: With the Mercury Gallery Ltd, 26 Cork Street, London W1X 1HB, 14th February 1975, receipt no. 0308, the original purchase price being £55 The work is sold together with the original invoice and the catalogue for the Anne Redpath exhibition held at the Mercury Gallery Jan 8th- Feb 8th 1975.

Attributed to Augustus Edwin John R.A., P.R.P., R.Cam.A., N.E.A.C., L.G. (19th/20th century) A Lady Seated Reading beside a Fire Above an Estuary, another figure standing nearby Oil on canvas board, 30cm by 40cm (11 3/4in by 15 3/4in) The present work is extremely similar in style to some of John's plein air work, which was often partially done on the spot and later finished in the studio. The work is tentatively attributed to the painter as there are no traces of a signature or inscriptions and sadly no provenance exists. A parallel can also be drawn to the hand of Vanessa Bell (nee Stephen), who was also a figurative painter and painted still life subjects too. She also designed carpets, pottery and book jackets and was the daughter of Sir Leslie Stephen and elder sister of Virginia Woolf. See illustration
Don McKinlay (1929-), Floral still life, initialled, oil on board, 80 x 58cm.; 31.5 x 23in. * His painting one-man shows have been held at the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool, the Rosengalerie, Amsterdam, Ayling Porteous Gallery, Chester, Bede Gallery, Jarrow, Liverpool Cathedral (Amnesty International), Liverpool Academy, Merseyside Arts, Merkmal Gallery, Liverpool and Salford Art Gallery. His work has been included in mixed shows at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Cartwright Hall, Bradford, Cornerhouse, Manchester, Liverpool Academy, Williamson Art Gallery, and Birkenhead. A member and regular exhibitor at the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, he is undoubtedly one of the most talented artists to come from the North-West of England in the past generation.
