Walter Ernest Spradbery (British, 1889-1969): Two watercolours to include 'Forest School', 27 x 38 cm, & still life, 49 x 39 cm, each signed, together with a 4 page hand written letter from the artist on personal headed paper with landscape print. CONDITION REPORT: Note: Walter Spradbery was a watercolorist, linocut artist, poster designer and art teacher. He specialised in landscapes showing the countryside around London and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy. His poster designs were produced mainly for London Transport, although he received some commissions for the LNER and British Railways. A lifelong pacifist, he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the First World War, and was also an official war artist. A memorial exhibition was held at the William Morris Gallery, London in 1970.
THOMAS FREDERICK 'TOMMY' COOPER 1921-1984 A parcel of Tommy Cooper related memorabilia and artwork to be offered on behalf of The Tommy Cooper Society to raise further funds for 'Tommy's Ticker Campaign', a campaign to purchase defibrillators for public use in locations of public assembly. Born in Caerphilly, Tommy Cooper became one of the world's most recognisable and innovative comedians, his television work spanning nearly 40 years after his 'big break' on the BBC talent show 'New to You'. On 15 April 1984, he collapsed from a heart attack live on London Weekend Television's 'Live From her Majesty's'. There is a statue of Tommy Cooper standing in his hometown of Caerphilly which was unveiled by Sir Anthony Hopkins, a patron of The Tommy Cooper Society'. In a 2005 poll 'The Comedian's Comedian', Tommy Cooper was voted the sixth greatest comedy act ever. 1.
