R...Harrington (1800-1882) Still Life of a Fish, Rod and Reel on a River Bank, possibly a Rainbow Trout. Inscribed with the artist's name by a later hand on the reverse of the frame, oil on board, 15cm by 30.5cm (6in by 12in) *R.Harrington came from Carlisle and was a pupil of Abraham Cooper. He generally painted portraits of horses, cattle and poultry and some of his works were engraved by Charles Hunt, others were lithographed by Thomas Fairland but all were published by R.Harrington of Carlisle, presumably himself. His work appears to be of some quality with good landscape backgrounds painted behind the animals, although a little nave. His does not appear to have exhibited
