A Potted History - Oil on acrylic. Following a recent visit to Ferini Art Gallery I was reminded, by the beautiful ceramics exhibition, of my own very early endeavours in this field. During the first lockdown I looked for inspiration around my home and painted several still life studies, some featuring my old Saturday morning Art School pots. Following my visit I delved a little more deeply and unearthed these pots which date back to circa 1970!”

ROYAL WORCESTER; a matched set of three porcelain cabinet display plates decorated by Richard Sebright, with hand painted fruit still life within blue and pink borders of gilt scrolls, shells and flora, each signed in puce lower right, diameter of each 23cm, marked with puce factory backstamp to the reverse, one also with retailer's mark of Maple & Co London, c1920s (2). CONDITION REPORT Both plates ring true, some marks and rubbing to gilt in places, the peach decorated example with a noticeable blemish over the gilt cavetto section in numerous places, both plates have some light glaze pitting as well as inclusions visible, peach plate with a small patch of wither kiln grit or inclusion to the front of the plate and a visible 1cm glaze scratch to the white sectionthe peach plated also with a small scratch resulting in paint loss to one of the vine leaves.

CONDITION REPORT Spreading cracks throughout, further crazing, central blemish to each decoration, further scratches, marks and rubbing to gilt.
