A good Swansea plate circa 1815-17 possibly by William Billingsley, with a central gilt sunburst medallion, the border painted with five still-life panels of shells and coral inside octagonal gilt frames, divided by gilt urns and foliate garlands remains of a gilt script mark 21cm., 8.25;in. An example with similar panels of shell painting ascribed to Billingsley is illustrated by W.D. John, William Billingsley, Ill.63, bottom right.
