Peter Farquhar (1936-2012). (Lots 504-653 inclusive) SAS are privileged to be offering the superb cigarette & trade card collection of the late Peter Farquhar. Peter had a great passion for sport and this reflected in his collection. Always with a keen eye for quality Peter amassed a fine collection of cards predominantly relating to his main interests of cricket, horseracing & golf. Another of Peter’s collecting specialities was actresses and this can be seen in his vast Guinea Gold collection. Peter was a well known & respected figure in the cartophilic world and served on the CSGB Council for nearly 20 years. One of the roles that Peter performed during that time was that of Postal Auction Secretary where the cards always managed to inspire him to find an amusing story. As a consequence his auction articles in Cartophilic Notes & News became a must read and can still be enjoyed today through back issues. As a result of his efforts Peter was made a life member of the CSGB Council. Peter was married to an Australian and was the father of five children. Held in the highest regard by all who met him Peter has left an invaluable legacy through his magnificent collection of cards . Cricket/Trade card: Hudson`s Soap, Advertising card showing Dr W.G.
