Caitlin Flood-Molyneux Still Life, 2023 Ink on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About Caitlin Flood-Molyneux is a contemporary Welsh Artist based in South Wales. Their artistic practice investigates the relationship between pop culture imagery and the way in which we attach emotion and memory to images and use this to narrate their subjective experiences of hardship. Their use of historical imagery is important, as it embodies the memories which the artist seeks to portray. Cheri Smith Overcast (Snakeskin and Pisanello), 2023 Egg tempera on primed paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About Cheri Smith (b. 1991, Essex) currently lives and works in London. Cheri's works explore themes of animality, embodiment, wildness and strangeness, and are informed by her own detailed observations and dark imagination. She paints with oil, egg tempera or glue distemper onto supports such as canvas, panel and bookcover. Her works intend to illuminate the inherent unknowability of the natural world, and to ruminate on our contemporary place within it. Cheri completed her postgraduate in drawing from the Royal Drawing School in 2018, where she was awarded the Trustees Prize. She received her BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Norwich University of the Arts in 2013. She has been the recipient of residencies at Hanover Grange, Jamaica (2019), Borgo Pignano, Italy (2020), and Dumfries House, Scotland (2022). It exists somewhere between still life, landscape and artist study, taking as its starting point a reproduction of Pisanello's Virgin and Child with Saint Anthony Abbot and Saint George. Alex Callaway Nibble, 2023 Oil on acrylic on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About I am a fine artist living and working near Worcester in England. Mostly self-taught, my early career was spent developing a distinct style of Pop Surrealism for the international poster and merchandise markets, alongside producing book cover illustration and murals. My passion for the natural world and landscape painting eventually took over, and this has grown to include portraits and especially still lifes which I paint from life. Select Exhibitions/Awards I was a finalist in the prestigious 2018 Columbia Threadneedle Prize, received an Alfred Daniels Award from The Royal Society of British Artists 300th Exhibition, and an Arcadia Contemporary Award from the 12th International ARC Salon. In 2019 I was very moved to win first prize for a portrait of my late daughter Megan (2001-2021) in the biennial RBSA Portrait Prize Exhibition. Gallery Representation Beaux Arts Bath Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork It was fun to 'go micro' and paint a tiny still life onto a postcard. Anne-Marie Butlin Bramble Flowers, 2023 Watercolour on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About I live in Crouch End, North London, and paint full-time in my garden studio. All my work is essentially an attempt to make a beautiful, uplifting image. In both my garden and still life paintings I hope to convey the character of different flowers and the unique feeling they can create in a space; the strong structures and often the sheer joyfulness of their appearance. I try to capture the sense of calm that flowers can give us; a chance to contemplate and meditate, and remember our connection with the natural world. Portrait/figure paintings are likewise an attempt to capture quiet transitory moments; recording a moment of childhood or the unique shape of a body or face before it changes forever. My work combines strong traditional technical skill with quite a modern sensibility and I find they appeal to a wide range of people; working just as well in a simple modern interior as in a period home. Richard Nott Pot Portrait from 16th C Vine Jar, 2023 Acrylic on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About I trained as a fashion designer at Kingston University. Following that I went to work as design assistant to sig. Valentino in Rome. After three marvellous years in Italy immersed in sunshine, couture, history and pasta I moved back to the UK and for the next ten years returned to Kingston University as Principal Lecturer in fashion design. Eventually, wanting to re-enter the fashion industry as an independent designer, I co-founded the cult fashion company 'Workers for Freedom' which was awarded British Fashion Council Designer of the Year in 1990. In 2000 after selling 'Workers for Freedom' I was free to fulfil a lifelong ambition and become a painter. Having worked in the fashion industry all my life I have developed a respect and love for texture, shape, colour and pattern. Wanting to incorporate this into my work led to an initial series of paintings inspired by clothing. Gaining access to the reserve collections in the Victoria and Albert museum and the Court Collection in Kensington palace in London, exhibitions in the Museé des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the royal kaftans held in the Topkapi museum in Istanbul I was able to make large paintings of iconic historic garments from different cultures. This work was presented in a one man show at Browse and Darby in Cork Street, London. Then, after moving to Kent and ten years of living in and looking after a 15thC National Trust house, I moved to the south coast. settling on the South Downs and looking out towards the sea, my work has taken a semi abstract path but still retains the decorative hints of a long career in fashion. Richard Nott Pot Portrait from 18th C Rabbit Jar, 2023 Acrylic on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About I trained as a fashion designer at Kingston University.
