Clarke Hutton (1898-1985), Still life with wine ewer and lemons, initialled and dated 46, oil on canvas, 29.5 x 39.5cm.; 11.5 x 15.5in. * Hutton's paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy; London Group; Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours; Redfern Gallery and elsewhere. The British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum hold his work.
Leonard Appelbee (1914-2000), Still life, signed and dated '47, oil on canvas, 70 x 50cm.; 27.5 x 19.75in. * Appelbee showed at the Royal Academy; the Royal Scottish Academy; the Arts Council; the British Council and in small group shows at Wildenstein, 1947 and Fine Art Society, 1968. Had a series of solo shows at Leicester Galleries from 1948 and a notable exhibition at City Museum and Art Gallery, Plymouth, 1977.
