Lavishly embroidered foliate designs on blue silk with panels of openwork, the cap divided into four sections by four bands of openwork meeting to the top of the cap with a blue silk covered button, some deterioration of the silk on the fold of the brim but condition otherwise good. Provenance: The Penrose Estate, Porthleven, Cornwall. Condition report: Very light fading, the interior is only slightly brighter, only one 'nibble' on the fold, the silk is generally in good condition but the silk on the fold is for good reason, more delicate.
