A triple cased open faced pocket watch, a Swiss copy of English work. A silver outer case, with painted scene and piqué work tortoiseshell overlay, remnants of a coral pushpiece. A silver interior case and pocket watch case. Swiss copy movement CONDITION REPORT: There is no key with the watch, so we are unable to wind it. Chips to the dial enamel at 2 o'clock; hairline cracks at same point. Less obvious damage at 6 and 7 o'clock, and between 4 and 5 o'clock. Rust around the centre post of the hands and the name Ardley. Tarnish and scuffs to the case. Outer silver case very tarnished. Push button worn and dented. Pique case with a split at the bottom/back. Surface wear. Indentations towards the centre. Sections deficieet from the bezel. All images on the website.

GWR Pre grouping Guards Pocket Watch manufactured by Rotherhams of London in the latter part of the 19th century. The case is in good condition and is hand engraved GWR 1697 on the rear, the top wind and button set movement is in good clean working condition, the dial with GWR enamelled at the top is free from chips but has a small hairline crack which could be cleaned and would appear invisible. Altogether a nice example of an early GWR watch.
