Dodane: A Rare Stainless Steel French Military Pilots Type 21 Chronograph Wristwatch, signed Dodane, model: Type 21, 1960's, (Valjoux 222) manual wound lever movement numbered 7161, black dial with luminous Arabic numerals, outer fifth of seconds track, two dials for seconds and 30 minute register, case with buttons in the band to operate the chronograph, rotating bezel, screw back with engraved military marks FG 17/3/68, FG 18/8/74, FG 30/11/78, FG 20/2/81, G 30/11/78, case serial number 21032438mm wideIn the 1950's the French army needed new military watches for the Navy and Airforce. The French watch manufacturer Dodane took the opportunity to start to produce a more precise and reliable chronograph wristwatch which needed a flyback function. The different numbers on the case back is for the case number and the other numbers refer to the guarantee and Precision of the watch. The letters FG stand for "Fin the Guarantee". Dodane serviced the watches for the French army and engraved each watch with the expiration date.Case with surface scratches, bezel with numerals rubbed, later strap and buckle, plexi glass with scratches and small cracks, dial is clean, luminous Arabic numerals are evenly faded with a nice aged patina, back of the chronograph hand is broken and missing, hand setting correctly, winding smoothly, chronograph is fuctioning with both buttons working correctly, the 30 minute register chronograph hand is not returning back to the 30 minute indicator mark when pressing the flyback bottom chronograph button, movement in going order.
