All items appear to have general wear to boxes, edges corners, etc. Cannot guarantee that they are all complete, although they do all appear to be well cared for.
An early 19th Century officer's naval hat with crown rope-twist and anchor gilded button and further gilded and castled ornament, by George Spencer, 8 Ordnance Row, The Hard, Portsmouth, together with matching naval gilded epaulettes, with naval ornaments, naval emblems, contained within a velvet lined and black tin hatbox, inscribed "CH Varley, RN" CONDITION REPORTS Painted box with knocks, scuffs and dents, damage to clasp and lock, which may be later. Various losses to paintwork and sticky tape applied. Interior of tin with wear, dirt, scuffs, etc. Hat and epaulettes with wear, dirt, some stains, and tarnish, some sections are separate (please see photos) It is not known whether or not this is complete.
