Royal Engineers Regimental OfficerÕs cocked hat. A good example of black beaver. To the left side a black silk rosette with a loop of gold regimental pattern lace secured with a gimp pearl button. Ornamented with black lace of oak leaf and acorn design. At each end, bullion tassels. The interior retains leather sweatband and crimson silk pleated lining. Complete with white short feather plume. Housed in a japaned metal storage box, with brass name plate ÒMajor C.M. Carpenter Royal EngineersÓ. Overall GC, but with some bald patches to the edge of the beaver in parts. (2 parts)

THE FOLLOWING FIVE LOTS RELATE TO THE CAREER OF HIBERNIAN LEGEND, HEARTS, DUNDEE AND SCOTLAND INTERNATIONAL GORDON SMITH. Born in Edinburgh on 25th May 1924, Smith played for youth teams Montrose Roselea and Dundee North End before joining Hibernian in 1941. Alongside Bobby Johnstone, Lawrie Reilly, Eddie Turnbull and Willie Ormond, Smith became part of the “Famous Five”, the most celebrated forward line in Hibs history. Major honours followed with Smith winning the League Championship medals on three occasions, 1948, 1952 and 1952. He is still the only player to win three Scottish League championship medals with three different clubs. He also played a total on 18 full International for Scotland. A BLUE SCOTLAND V.
