1 Large early 20th century signed glass in metal pictorial button.Here is an incredibly hard to find button from the French designer Rene Lalique. This is one of the 6 designs known in buttons that the Lalique company in France produced. The button depicts a beautiful Art Nouveau design of a Nymph and is set with three genuine small cultured pearls. The button is etched into the glass the signature of R. Lalique along with the word "Fioret" on one side and "Paris" on the other. The setting is silver and is backmarked Sterling. The glass is frosted etched and is enhanced in this case with a brownish sepia tint designed to highlight the molded glass image of the nymph and fauna. The button has been found in a variety of colors but this example is the only known version we are aware of with this special tint. You don't want to pass this fine example of Art Nouveau craftsmanship up. Truly remarkable. 1 Medium size late 19th century pictorial "Gin Bari" button.These enamels are ones that are prized among collectors. The word "Gin" is pronounced with a hard G. This type of enamel was developed by the fine artists in Japan a long time ago. Gin Bari enamels are a Basse Taille style although rather than being engine turned on the metal base the foil under the enamel is textured. Most of not all Gin Bari buttons also utilize the technique of Cloisonne fine wire work. This medium example shows a large colorful flower. 1 Medium size late 19th century picture button in relief.This hard to find button is not pictured in the BBB as I had thought it was. After consulting with several people who either had never seen this button or had seen it pictured somewhere but never in person, the faithful Keith Golden of Illinois came up with the story behind it. Keith is always a good wealth of info. Keith informed us that this button of a naked child came from what he believes is a set of three that were designed from advertising cards advertising soap. Keith is in possession of these advertising cards and we thank him for his identification.. The detail in this example is fantastic and a wonderful example to add to any collection. A medium size early 19th century NY Militia button Excelsior.This early (about 1820 to 1832) button depicts the eagle and is less common than the one without the Excelsior word on it. It is number 10 in Dewey Alberts book on page 198. A nice button to add and use on a bird card that allows military buttons. Verbal's are always a nice addition. 1 19th century head button made of sulfide, black glass button.This button is a rare example from the 1800's. The button was made in both ruby red glass and black glass and they are very hard to find examples of these.
