An 18th Century cut glass and white metal mounted seal, together with four further seals, a carved netsuke in the form of an octopus bearing signature button to base, a hardstone mounted compass in the form of a book and a bronze figure of a young girl carrying books, together with a gold plated pendant frame CONDITION REPORTS The cut glass white metal seal has some nibbles to the top, the bone seal has chips to the top and an areas of possible burning along one side, the bronze seal is at an angle, the stone seal's hook has been broken and repaired, the seal itself has fractures on the stone. The pendant mount is coming away at one side and appears to have been repaired. All items have wear and tear. The glass and white metal seal is approx 6cm high. The bone and white metal seal is approx 5.5cm high. Bronze seal of man approx 6.5cm high. Brass lion head seal approx 4.5cm high. Brass seal approx 2.5cm. Stone seal approx 3.5cm high.

A gilt-bronze discoid button brooch of Avent & Evison's Class Aii with flared rim, concentric ridge and row of pellets, central human mask with chevron helmet, pellet eyes, voided scaphoid mouth and curved cheeks; spring, pin and catchplate to the reverse, old inked collector's accession number 'M52369'. Property of a German collector; acquired in the 1980s and 1990s. See Avent, R. & Evison, V.I. Anglo-Saxon Button Brooches in Archaeologia, vol.CVII, 1982. The Anglo-Saxon button brooch is a small disc brooch decorated with a single human face mask, found mainly in southern England and occasionally in France. The identity of the face on these brooches has never been explained, though it may well represent either Wotan or Thunor, important gods of the pagan Anglo-Saxons. 4.59 grams, 20mm (3/4"). Fine condition.
6th century AD. A gilt-bronze button brooch with raised external flange, reserved Style I profile beast, remains of pin-lug and catchplate to the reverse. From an old Hampshire collection; found Dummer, Hampshire, UK, 1987. Cf. Avent, R. & Evison, V.I. Anglo-Saxon Button Brooches in Archaeologia, vol.CVII, 1982, item 33.2. The brooch is at the upper end of the size scale for a button brooch, and does not feature the customary facing mask design. There are parallels in Avent & Evison for the profile Style I head. The flange is more substantial than on may other examples of the type. 5.16 grams, 23mm (1"). Fine condition.
18th-19th century AD. A steel talwar sword with single-edged blade curved for its lower quarter and double-edged; the grip lentoid-section with median swelling, round-section expanding crossguard with button finials and rectangular tongue to each face, to one end of the crossguard a flat-section guard swept up towards the discoid pommel with knop finial; Bidri or Deccan style silver inlay to the hilt. Property of a North East Essex collector; acquired in the 1980s. 1 kg, 93cm (36 1/2"). [No Reserve] Fine condition.
A gentleman's very fine gilt metal mounted coromandel/calamander fitted Dressing Case by Asprey, London (gilt metal labels), the lid opening to reveal a pull down blue velvet covered writing surface and in turn revealing hand held Mirror, Glove Stretchers and ivory Letter Opener/Page Turner, the main interior with a variety of accoutrements including cased ivory Shaving Strop, oval ivory handled Clothes Brush and Hair Brush and upon a stand opening to reveal two ivory handled Cut Throat Razors, the front section with silver mounted glass requisite boxes etc., and a silver mounted Scent/Drinks Decanter, each side having finely cut hobnail pattern, further with ivory Comb and the Tray lifting to reveal lower smaller Tray with a variety of gentleman's requisites including Scissors, Button Hook, miniature Corkscrew, Tweezers etc., the silver mounts with assay marks for London 1870, (a lot of the ivory pieces with conforming armorial crest and monogram, the silver mounts also engraved and matching the hinged lid with the same monogram/armorial crest), 31.5cm wide CONDITION REPORT: Generally very good overall, nothing major
