1 Large 19th century pink glass with a bird on it. This exquisite button shows an engraved and gilded bird flying over water. The coloration and design are truly wonderful. Somewhere in its life the shank was either broken off and resoldered , or simply soldered for strength (as the shank is an appropriate one for its age and time period) , but this does not effect the front or the useability in competition either. This is a magnificent and beautiful button to add to any collection and we are confident that's why Jean Young of California added it to hers many years ago. Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4". 1 Lacquered 4 compartment Inro with a carved Netsuke of a man. This incredible condition Japanese Inro (an ornamental box with compartments) is made of lacquer and built up. The fine detail of this type was hand made in Japan in the 1800's by master craftsman of the times. The Japanese would wear these on their sash and the Ojime bead (in between the box and Netsuke) along with the Netsuke would tighten the rope. The Netsuke in this example depicts a very detailed male deity or god finely carved in wood. This example is a very fine example indeed. This came from the famous button collection of Eugenie Lydecker of Connecticut. Some of you may still recall of part of her collection being sold in 1980. 1 Small size 19th century black JET button. This genuine JET button from the 19th century is faceted and has a GOLD plate inset into the top. Jet buttons are very rare and were only worn by the royalty and wealthy in England. When Prince Philip died, Queen Victoria went into mourning for 40 years and only wore black, so she needed buttons and they were made of JET. The regular people could not afford such an expensive mineral gemstone so black glass buttons came into existence. Therefore the rarity of jet buttons is quite prominent and this wonderful example is in nice condition too. Lightweight and scratched black on white paper too as its coal. Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4".
