A flintlock lighter dating: first quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Europe With tubular, two-stage magazine for the tinders, faceted and round, with ring at the girdle and another ring by the mouthpiece similar to a moulded muzzle, provided with a cover which can be opened by pressing the small button on the back, with handle. Box-lock type mechanism with rear hammer (detachable upper jaw) and batterie, trigger with trigger guard; checkered, wooden grip, chiselled with shell on the sides and hollow scales on the back, iron butt-plate. Provided with a folding pedestal in the lower part. Interesting lighter with magazine for the tinders shaped as a barrel which makes it look like a pocket pistol. dimensions: length 22 cm.

Lot 311

A very scarce four-shot percussion stick gun with stiletto dating: third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Belgium Wooden haft, detachable. Grip with silver mounts featuring stamps, probably English. Removing the grip of the stick, there is a four-barrel gun with grooves similar to the barrel of a pepperbox revolver, the base marked "PARIS BREVETE", "PARIS", with stamp of Liège test bench; by pulling the barrels comes out a small piston that, through a button, fires all shots at the same time. In the front part, between the for barrels, is a stiletto blade. dimensions: length 83.5 cm.

A very scarce superimposed percussion folding rifle by Mangeot at Bruxelles dating: mid-19th Century provenance: Belgium Strong, octagonal, micro-rifled, 13 mm cal. barrel, pistons with spark arrester, provided with foresight; long tang finely engraved with floral motifs; forward spring locks, around the hammers the signature "Mangeot a Bruxelles", engraved with the effigy of a cheetah and a deer between foliage; wooden half stock, sculpted with woven branches at the neck, folding butt with button, iron mounts decorated with deer (trigger guard), fawn (butt-plate), wild boar head and floral motifs; single trigger for two shots; in the butt-plate are two empty magazines which can be opened with a button. Articulated, iron ramrod with iron and brass tip. For Henri Mangeot see "Der Neue Stöckel", Vol. II, page 750. Mangeot not only was an excellent gunsmith, he also was the author of several books about arms. He worked for the Royal House in The Netherlands. dimensions: length 93.5 cm.

Silver hilt stamped with tower, crowned shield, with number 75, and "SELGAS"; the guard with a valve finely decorated with bas-relieved motifs and pierced, featuring floral motifs and a crowned, oval shield with tower, the parry quillon shaped as a dolphin, fine pommel with lion head near the guard and relieved foliage, ring-nut with palmette, black twisted grip (a defect on one side). Complete with leather scabbard (defects) with silver mounts, the cap with a button decorated with tower. dimensions: length 92 cm.

Slim, wooden full stock (two small restorations near the tang and another in the lower part); the area under the barrel decorated with brass plaques engraved with spirals and racemes alternated with mother of pearl inlays of various shapes (hearts, lozenges, circles, etc.). Butt with cheek-piece featuring a mother of pearl disc engraved with racemes and mask, on the other side too are engraved plaques of mother of pearl; wooden patchbox, externally covered with brass decorated en suite with the lock; butt bordered with brass, engraved with spirals ans racemes. The magazine can be loaded through the specific pump included in the case. The lower segment shaped as a truncated cone (a small damage on one side), with mechanism and barrel, provided with foresight and fixed rear-sight, button, turn-off iron lever, micro-rifling, cal. 8 mm. Brass nozzle with turn-off, brass shoe provided with ramrod. In good condition, damages at the painting only.
