AN EARLY STEIFF PALE GOLD MOHAIR TEDDY BEAR circa 1910, with boot button eyes and the remains of a horizontally stitched nose, the left ear now lacking the original button, on a jointed body with buff felt pads (now covered with tan cloth), stitched claw detail, and wood-wool stuffing, 29.5cm high. Note: Believed to have been given to its original owner at her birth, on 6th March 1908 (exactly 107 years before the date of this sale). A copy of a photograph of this young girl at the age of around two, holding the bear, accompanies the lot.
