An Edwardian cotton dress, pale grey with trailing foliate pattern on white ground with mother-of-pearl button fastening to front, to/w a cream silk striped jacket printed with blue/green floral sprays with mother-of-pearl button fastening and pale green silk fringing (2) Condition Report Dress worn condition, some repairs to side opening, some fraying to hem, patch repair to each side of chest, slight staining to bodice. Possibly William Larkin (flourished early 1580's to 1619). A Fine Early 17th Century English Oil on Panel: Head & Shoulders Portrait of Sir Walter Raleigh inscribed ANo 1615 AT top right. The subject wearing a black button fronted doublet with elaborate cut work ornamentation and a high starched white collar edged in delicate lace trim. The panel re-backed with cradle, and inscribed on verso; 'In ink on the back of the original panel was written "Sir John Boileau" and this was one of the old pictures in the house (Ketteringham Park) when the Boileau bought it around 1850, and was there when they came. It was bought by me in 1947 at the sale. The house at that time belonged to Lady Jane Grey's husband's family etc. This portrait by experts is said to be English work. I had it cleaned and back 1965, CGH Perks'. 19 ins x 14 ins (48.5 cm x 35.5 cms) in a moulded black frame 27½ ins x 22½ ins (70 cm x 57 cms).
