Button, East & West Junction Railway, 26mm, plate 22 (1) in Froggatt. Rear clearly marked with makers 'Firmin & Sons 153 Strand & 13 Conduit St London. Scarce example brass loco design. Note: The East & West Junction Railway opened between Stratford and Towcester in June 1871. It combined with the Stratford-on-Avon, Towcester & Midland Junction Railway to form the East & West Junction & Stratford, Towcester & Midland Junction Railway in April 1891.
London & North Western Railway etched glass Carriage Window in original wooden frame. Centrally placed is the Britannia image surrounded by scrollwork and full company name beneath. Around the edge is a floral design, the glass itself measuring 15" x 26¼". Overall size in frame is 21¼" x 30½". The outside of the frame incredibly retains the original L&NWR dark blue paintwork and the small brass strap button is still in place. A quite superb item that was found when a huge clear-out took place many, many years ago at the Royal Corp of Transport's Buller Barracks in Aldershot, Hants. With the military connection, this could well be a surviving artefact from a WWI Ambulance Train.
[EDWARD VIII]: (1894-1972) King of the United Kingdom January-December 1936, later Duke of Windsor. A beige wool and camel suede jacket, with four suede buttons and two pockets, made in Italy specially for A. Sulka & Company of Paris, previously belonging to the Duke of Windsor. Originally sold at Christie's in Rome as part of their auction of the personal effects of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, 17th June 2004. Circa 1900 Small Plush Jointed Teddy Bear Called 'VIP', with boot button eyes, stitched nose and humped back with felt pads and stitched claws, 32cms long. 'VIP' is named after the family surname of Vipont who have a family crest and came over with William the Conqueror, he is mentioned in the Doomsday Book for his bravery in battle.
