AN EMBROIDERED SILK LADY'S INFORMAL COURT ROBE China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century The robe is finely worked in red satin stitch and Peking knot with eight medallions of cranes encircled by ruyi bats flying amidst ruyi shaped clouds in shades of white, blue, red, pink, purple and green, above a wide lishui waves and sacred peak stripe tossed with auspicious emblems (some of “The Eight Treasures of Buddhism). The sleeves are decorated with similar motifs. H: 140 cm Notes: 1.
