A Victorian banded agate bead necklace with a matching pair of drop earrings and a stickpin, the continuous necklace comprising 73 graduated spherical banded agate beads in tones of black, brown and white, knotted to a green cord, the beads range in size from 8.2mm to 18.3mm, necklace length 56cm, the earrings are formed of two graduated banded agate beads with hook fittings, drop length 3.4cm, the stickpin is formed of a single banded agate bead, measuring 13.4mm in diameter The necklace is in good condition. The necklace is a continuous strand with no fittings. One small bead is drilled in two directions. The necklace would benefit from re-stringing. Gross weight of the necklace 272.6 grams. The earrings and stick pin are in good condition. Gross weight of earrings and stick pin 19.6 grams. The lot is accompanied by two banded agate beads with bail fittings and a single banded agate dress button.
A brass striking and repeating carriage clock, circa 1900, carrying handle and repeat button, pierced borders, silvered Arabic chapter ring, twin barrel movement with a platform lever escapement and striking on a gong, 17.5cm high over handle, with a fitted travelling case 08.12.16, Brass surfaces are discoloured, front and back glass panels with chips, dial is discoloured and faded, movement needs cleaning, in going order, striking and repeat functions are working.
Japanese tinplate model of a bear dressed in an apron and cap, on naturalistic foliate base, drinking a cup of tea, featuring an on/off button. 26cm high. Printed marks: 'Made in Japan'. CONDITION REPORT: In working order, his left hand has some damage and a tear through the middle of it, general wear commensurate with age, some rips to the clothing and rather grubby in places.

II & III with photographic plates (some folding), plans, diagrams, illustrations etc. [together with:] Handbook of Abyssinia Vol. I, June 1917, pp. 551, contemporary D.J. Jardine ownership inscription to front pastedown. Useful information on infrastructure, transport, language, government, recent history, geography, ethnography etc., compiled by the Naval Intelligence Division of the Admiralty for the use of commissioned British naval officers. All in original blue cloth, a little bumped and rubbed, gilt titles and numbering, with flaps folding over fore edge of China Vols I and II and Abyssinia, secured by button clasp. Smethick Public Libraries labels to China pastedowns and their ink stamps to prelims and other pages, also versos of some plates etc. Only minor soiling and time staining (4).
